Re: Season Ticket Holder Survey

Is there anywhere to ask why my silver season seats at the 20 yard line are supposedly BEHIND the goal line now?

Also, they could fire Donovan and I might actually spend MORE on my tickets.

Re: Season Ticket Holder Survey

I don't think it's just for season ticket holders, because I haven't been one for a couple of years. My email said this in short:
The BC Lions Football club would like to thank you for being a valued fan. In an effort to help us better serve our fanbase we would appreciate your feedback in this survey.
All I had to do was plug in my account ID#. I love that they asked things like the days I would like for games before and after Labour Day, and the preferred times for those games, but I don't seriously think that they will actually listen. I remember when they did a poll asking what days and times the fans would prefer, and I remember a large percentage of people voted for Saturdays before 7pm and afternoon games. What did we get? Friday games at 730. So colour me cautiously optimistic. :)

(sigh) If you renew by December 15, they'll give you "gold" seats close to the 20 at the same price you paid for silver last year.

Are there ST holders who still haven't gotten e-mail and registration packages explaining this??? (Sorry, G, but this has come up before.)

Oh I had no idea that was the case. I haven't received that info yet so I'm slightly less miffed in that case.

Still want Donovan fired though.

Saturday night is at the top of my list of preferred game times. Saturday afternoon is at the bottom.

Re: Season Ticket Holder Survey

Just completed the survey but was stuck on a couple of either/or questions.

For example, one question asked what I want to see more of in their TV ads. I was stuck between "history/tradition" or "players/action." I think it's safe to say that "humor ads" have pretty much run their course.

The other was which logo I most identify with: mountain lion astride a football (which they identified as "1950s" when in actual fact it was the club's official crest from 1954 - 1976), paw logo from the '60s, or the snarling lion's head from the 1970s. I chose mountain lion even though I also love the '70s snarling lions head.

P.S. for giveways that you'd wear again to a Lions game, how about a write-in vote for one of these T-shirts:

TIM DONOVAN IS ABOUT AS COOL AS SANDALS AND TUBE SOCKS

CRAZY P: HOW'D YOU LIKE TO WEAR THAT DRUM?

You didn't get that choice though. You were still forced to pick a time for saturday afternoon. It's clear now we're going to get an afternoon game. I don't mind one (why we need that I don't know) as long as the rest are ALL saturday nights.

IT's time to create a new history. The one you endear so much is now soooo long ago (sorry) It's time to make a here and now. Old logo's are starting to get old.. there was a reason they were changed. "Players/action". Today's players, today's uniform. Lets get a great uni; I still don't think they've got it right, close.. but not there yet.

The big question for me was do we need more cowbell??

Well, just a heads-up Rob. They're going to be dipping into that "history" a lot this year, so you'd better get used to it. :2cents:

Really? The Lions are certainly taking their time in getting out these renewal packages. That can't be good.

I got an e-mail explaining the plan three weeks ago, so I heard from them as soon as the proposed 2010 stadium configuration and pricing were released. That's the way it should be for everyone. I'd call the Lions ticket office if I were you!

Surely there are a lot of fans who will prefer an afternoon game if it is outdoors, though? A sunny afternoon in Empire, drinking beer and looking across at the mountains?

The Als famously saw their popularity soar when they moved to an outdoor venue, so out of curiosity I had a look at their schedule:

http://en.montrealalouettes.com/schedule/year/2009/9

After Labour Day, they move exclusively to Sunday afternoon games. I assume that is because the fans prefer a sunny afternoon in la belle province, once the weather gets cooler. I generally like Saturday night games myself (having no social life to speak of!), but since we'll be outdoors I voted for the afternoon in the fall.

Yep, and that's worked so well for the Canadiens this past year, hasn't it.

I was one of the people involved in that recent discussion; I pointed out that on first glance it appeared I would have to pay gold prices for what used to be bronze seats but I got the mailing and it looks like I'll have the same location and price as last year, or very close thereto.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.
