Paris' stupid celebration

Yeah, yeah, I know the D blew it (again).
But . . . consider Paris Jackson's subliminal contribution to another loss to Calgary.
He gets aTD with a minute-and-a-half to go in the fourth to give the Lions a one-point lead.
I am saying out loud: Do not celebrate.Do not. Just give the ball to
the ref and run to the sidelines with your head down, ready to watch
the D take over.
What does he do? He mocks the Stamps with his stupid horsey move.
And he did the same damn thing in Calgary when the teams last played.
Jackson scored a TD and did the lame horsey thing in Cowtown, then Calgary
came back to win.
He's in the CFL. He should know better.
1:30 is an eternity in the league.
Why the hell celebrate and mock the opposition when victory is anything but assured?
Now BC must beat Edmonton next week just to make the playoffs.
And , if they do, they must win in Regina and Calgary to make the Grey Cup.
What a horrible, horrible year.

Re: Paris' stupid celebration

As the Lions were struggling through the 2000 regular season with a 5-9 start, I almost gave up hope of a Grey Cup Championship. Shame on me.

If you're ready to give up any hope for this year's Lions team, shame on you.

I agree 100% with Kamloops Lion. Jackson's idiotic TD celebration made me cringe.

I agree with that too , just like Foley dredging up that crap with Doug Brown . I didn't notice the celebaration myself . But cockiness needs to go when your team has not proven itself yet .
But in the end the defense let the offense down , second week in a row . The O did score what could've and should've been winning points .

Re: Paris' stupid celebration

The worst thing is I could barely even celebrate when thet got that TD as I just had the feeling the Stamps would come back with the time remaining......and surprise :bang:

The other frustrating thing is the lack of preparation, it seems, by the O-line and Printers running for his life every down

Re: Paris' stupid celebration

Speaking of stupid celebrations I wish someone would drill Deangelis with his stupid be quiet pose at the end.....you are a damn kicker who made a straight on 27 yarder. He pulled this stuff against the Esks too doing his sliding on the turf. :thdn:

I agree!! I've either played, coached, or been a fan of football since I was very young. At this stge of my life, having watched so much football, while watching my home town team win is most important, I like a little entertainment.

I don't have a problem with players celebrationg or doing a little hot dogging, as long as it doesn't get out of hand. There are fans who still want the era of Johnny Unitas or at least prefer a Jason Clermont handing the football to the referee after a touchdown.

I gotta kick out of the Nik Lewis pretending he didn't know what to do after scoring his first touchdown in over a year and Paris Jackson riding the horse after his touchdown was more than fine. I liked that Prnters tried to stir up crowd noise for the final drive.I dont' want the CFL to become the "NFL no fun league'!

However, what impressed me most in this game, was the hit on Printers by Browner..it would have knocked most quarterbacks out of the game but Printers bounced up and got right in Browners face. That play told me everything about Printers fire, his competitivenes, and his toughness. He didn't lay on the ground looking for sympathy. That kind of play earns respect from your teamates and grudging respect from your opponents.

We're die hard fans here on Lionbackers but crowds come to be entertained and there is a lot of competition for the entertainment buck these days. Football may be about winning to us but it's also in the entertainment business. However, the best entertainment last night was watching Printers escape like a magician that created a standing ovation from the crowd.

Perhaps teams with losing records (especially 7 in a row against the same team) might want to concentrate on the job they have NOT been doing, rather than parading for spectators.

Win, and then get cocky. There seems to be far too much cockiness around this club given their marginal performance this season, imo.

I thought the same thing when I saw him do his "stupic" horsey move! I said to those around me, he did the same thing in Calgary, ..the Stamps will come back and win. It really does look stupid. So who had the last laugh..the Stamps.

I agree with the no show group. Make or break point in the season, time left to go, you shouldn't have that kind of crap on your mind. There is a time and place, that wasn't it.

Re: Paris' stupid celebration

Well, I for one had no issues with it. it's not my style but I had no problem with the dance that took them into the lead and on a great play call and execution. Would you have begrudged Simon for doing his Superman pose? If not, then the problem isn't with the celebrating but with the specific celebration. And that is purely subjective and I would argue it only is an issue because of the final outcome and there is more animosity about the outcome than the actual celebration. I think Pauser has it right. We win this thread does not exist.

It wasn't like it was a celebration while still being behind. This put the Lions into the driver's seat. Not Paris' problem that the D couldn't find the magic they had in the first Q.

I also enjoyed Nik Lewis' celebration. I hated the fact he could do one, but thought that was pretty cool the way he did it. Let's not forget that this is entertainment.
Now that I don't live in Quesnel do I need to change my handle??

Re: Paris' stupid celebration

I gotta agree here with LFITQ, that TD put us up and would have won us the game if the D had simply held for two plays. Complaining about this is idiotic in the extreme. The Defense lost us the game, not Paris' little dance.
