Late August and early September should be an interesting time period as the NFL teams finalize their roster and release players who couldn't make the cut. Sometimes, the rejected NFL players go north to try to find new employment there. Since the Lions need improvement, which potential rejected NFL players should the Lions try to pursue?
There have been times when picking up the cut NFL player turned out to be the missing link in creating a championship team. For the Lions, I'd say the best examples would be Barry Wilburn and James Jefferson who were instrumental in their 1994 Grey Cup championship. And as the best example for an opponent, if Cal Murphy didn't sign this guy, there's no way the Blue Bombers would have stolen the 1988 GC from the Lions.
