Re: Casey Printers released by Ti-Cats, the Riders interested...
NW: Casey's agent (Uncle Jason) says he will be calling the Lions. Wally says he will listen. The million dollar question is does Wally view CP as an upgrade in his QB depth and would he return to BC for the same $$$ he is paying his current QBs (200,000)?
Re: Casey Printers released by Ti-Cats, the Riders interested...
I suspect they will want big bucks. The question mark for me is, was the Casey we saw prior to the foray the real Casey or is the one who returned? He really only had one good year here and he hasn't done much since. He might be worth a shot, but I'd suggest he isn't worth using up too much cap space . We can't carry four QB's, so who is the odd man out? Any word on Buck signing?
Re: Casey Printers released by Ti-Cats, the Riders interested...
I'm not bouncing off the walls cause no one seems to want to see the big picture.
Casey has talent. But Wally can't see that.
Wally is all hell bent on signing Buck Pierce, who I think will never be great, or even good.
Does Casey floating around as a Free Agent put Buck in a stronger bargaining position or weaker?

Just for your information bank, Buck Pierce is signed by the Lions. I think that you haven't researched your conspiracy angle far enough. BP may sign an extension, but for the 09 season, he is a Lion unless he retires from pro football. Carry on now.firstdown45 wrote:I'm not bouncing off the walls cause no one seems to want to see the big picture.

Entertainment value = an all time low

Buck can be released or traded. So can J.J.
So don't be stupid. You know Buck is in his Option year and if he doesn't want to sign at this time, on Wally's terms, the door is open to Casey.
I assure you that Wally will want this resolved sooner than later.

If it wasn't for the "Cancer in the dressing room" handle, I think a lot of teams might be lining up for a look see at Printers.
Montreal
Toronto
Sask
Winnipeg
BC
Could all probably find a space for him. He may not be 2004 material ever again but he is still at least a good as many of the starters on the mentioned teams. In Montreal's case, AC won't be around forever.
As it stands, there are teams that have chemistry that GM's and management will worry about being upset if CP gets parachuted in. That will keep him out of all but the most desperate places.

Re: Casey Printers released by Ti-Cats, the Riders interested...
I think the best thing for CP would be a quiet year behind Calvillo. He could recover from his physical and shell shock ailments, and perhaps take the reins in 2010.
Re: Casey Printers released by Ti-Cats, the Riders interested...
B.C.'s QB situation is not spectacular. BC is one team that will benefit by having a strong QB.
Match Casey with lethal WRs and Casey will do some serious damage to opponents.
He scrambles and that adds another dimension to your offense.
Can the Lions afford to not sign Casey considering how many good players we've lost?
We've lost:
Clermont
Logan
Murphy
Casey can make up for that.
Let's see the forest from the trees please.

I'd be shocked if the Riders were interested. Tillman has said many times CP is not in the plansm, and he is still involved in the GM stuff even though he is on leave. Local regina news discredits CKNW's report of the Riders having interest as well.
I suspect he ends up in TO or MTL

Re: Casey Printers released by Ti-Cats, the Riders interested...
We can afford not to sign him and likely won't. One player does not a winning team make. Both of our QB's have the ability to scramble so that is a saw off. JJ has a huge arm but lacks accuracy. BP has more accuracy but doesn't have the strongest of arms. Both those guys are positive influences, same can't be said about CP at the moment although I don't know how much of that may be undeserved.
Casey Printers isn't our ruin or salvation. He still has the makings to be a pretty good QB but he needs to develop an attitude consistent with those QB's who are generally considered the best in the business. You don't find the likes of Ray, Calvillo, or any of the greats that have come before synonymous with the words petulant, whiney or any of the rest of that. They have workman like attitudes, conduct themselves with professionalism on and off the field and do their talking with their coaches and team, not through the press and their agent.
I have no doubt that CP would expect to be a starter here and he hasn't earned that kind of free pass. He has been gone for 3 years, hasn't done much to earn that "starter" position and won't be happy without it. Unless he is willing to compete openly and without expectation in TC, then the Lions shouldn't touch him with a 100 foot pole.

Hope you are sitting behind a desk when you type about CP. Remember, don't stand up and let your Mother see you.firstdown45 wrote:B.C.'s QB situation is not spectacular. BC is one team that will benefit by having a strong QB.
