Congrats to the Lions
The D made the dif, and held the Rider O in check until Pierce was able to get his groove.

Any hockey fans out there remember Stevens say to Ciccarelli: "you're f$#@n next"? Well that's what our boys are saying to Calgary right now!!

Thank you thank you. Lions rock! Sask was in the same mode they were in close wins vs hamilton and toronto. BC is much better than both those teams, and bishop was vintage bishop vs the lions.

The Riders did well to make it this far with all the injuries they suffered. Riders fans should be proud of their team's efforts this year.
Re: Congrats to the Lions
Rider fans should take a lot of pride in the way their team played this year. Going 12-6 as defending Grey Cup champions, despite injuries to many of their offensive stars, is a great credit to the organization.

The Riders overcame a lot of adversity this year. I give them a lot of credit.VANRIDERFAN wrote:The D made the dif, and held the Rider O in check until Pierce was able to get his groove.
Kent Austin back to Ole Miss.
Kerry Joseph traded.
Injuries beyond belief.
Quarterback carousel.
And no whining about it, they just kept on working.
We're happy to have players like Jason Clermont and Kelly Bates on our team to bring us some of that Prairie grit.

Re: Congrats to the Lions
Good on you for finally getting rid of mediocrity. Great organization. Bishop finally ended up on a team that gave him a chance. And a full deal chance. He can only get better.

Re: Congrats to the Lions
Hats off to the Riders, like others said they played through alot. As for their fans, they remind me of the fans of the old Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL. They had a reputation as rowdy, not necessarily a nice crowd, but you had to respect their commitment, the building was ALWAYS full. I wish all CFL teams had a similar level of loyaty amongst fans.
Enough consolation....
THANK YOU LIONS! Win or lose that kind of effort is always appreciated.

Re: Congrats to the Lions
I don't want to come off as a sore winner, but if the Lions had gone 6-0 to start the year, while defending their Grey Cup championship, only to lose the WDSF at home would we be congratulating the Lions on a good year? Yes, the Riders had a lot of changes and injuries, but they still went 6-0 despite all of that only to crap the bed down the road. But I will agree that you can not take anything away from the fans who supported that team... a complete sell out for the entire season is a major accomplishment in the CFL.
Re: Congrats to the Lions
I was worried. The Rider D really held them in there. I think the JJackson-Simon TD was when I started feeling better. And Simon wasn't cocky about it. A tv camera was following him down the BC bench and he wouldn't make a quip. Game wasn't over yet....

Re: Congrats to the Lions
I knew it was over at half time.
Buck was on fire and even getting hit a couple times could not shake him. Bishop was too inconsistent and Lions could have been up 28-0 by the end of the first quarter due to the Riders giving up more turnovers than Tim Hortons.
Lions deserved the win. Ok Lions, go get Calgary - eat up Burris and spit him out.
Watch for the Riders to either make a major trade over the winter to bring in an actual "starting" QB (Printers?) or go with Bell out of training camp.
GO LIONS!
As I posted in another thread - I want to know that my team got beat by the BEST - not the second best - Roar, you Lions roar.

I think Michael Bishop may have played himself out of a job in Regina.
