WestCoastJoe wrote: How bout them Redskins? I would have bet on the Cowboys, but I'm a fan of Jim Zorn since his days with the Seahawks. Actually saw him play in the old KingDome. Zorn was a very surprising pick as Head Coach, never having been one at any level. Snyder might have got it right this time.

How long has that NFC EAST been a dogfight? I DID bet Cowboys, but was glad to see Zorn's boys pull it off. As a said yesterday, TOO FOCUSSED ON T.O. (mr. Owens thinks otherwise of course).

My Lions Cohort (sits next to me at all Lions home games) and I are going to take a trip down to Seattle. Go down early Friday, check out the city Friday/Saturday. And catch a Seahawks game on the Sunday. My girlfriend wants to join us but considering the price I'm guessing we're gonna have to lay out for tickets...she's gonna be watching the luggage!

That is a beautiful stadium. Was at Safeco Field a year ago. Both nice. I might get down to Qwest Field for a SeaHawks game sometime this year too.

Rams and Raiders both have new Head Coaches. Do not see it making much difference in either place.

No arguements on any of those picks. I like Seattle but I can't see this years edition beating the Giants.

Just to throw my hat in the ring, I'll go out on a limb and take the 49ers just because the Patriots are adjusting to a backup whose now the starter.

Re: Official NFL Thread 2008-2009

Oh well my 49ners pick was way off :sigh:

The Monday Nighters have been pretty good this year. Bush had a great game in a loss tonight. Cowboys/Eagles shootout has been the best, IMO but last week went to Overtime (Ravens/Steelers) and the Vikings won with a last minute FG tonight.

Dave Pratt's so-called NFL expert guest (don't remember his name) said he would not be surprised if the Cowboys implode before too long this year. He said owner Jerry Jones is on the sideline giving players like T.O. pep talks, etc. He also said T.O. looked like he was near some kind of breakdown post game, even though they won.

Dallas is always interesting. I kind of thought Parcells didn't like that kind of drama, or having Jones involved in everything.

Re: Official NFL Thread 2008-2009

I'm kinda emberassed its taken me awhile to post about Mitch Berger too! He had trouble getting work due to to an injury last season. This year he's punting and holding fieldgoals for The Steelers.

WCJ, I am just laughing at T.O. He just doesn't get the concept of TEAM. These are those self fufilling prophecies too. When theCowboys lose its "I haven't been getting the ball". IMO, their problems are doing too much to get T.O. the ball.

Re: Official NFL Thread 2008-2009

I am not one for careful facts but.... apparently TO got 21 of 60 Cowboys offensive plays and the reason they lost????? Not going enough to TO of course

I am going to pick the Seahawks over the Packers. This is an awesome weekend for football fans like myself. I get three Sunday NFL games...get some sleep and wake up to a CFL Doubleheader capped off with a NFL Monday Nighter.

Re: Official NFL Thread 2008-2009

According to the announcers this was the 'Week of the Exciting finish' :bang: but not the games I watched... I suffered through an awful performance by the Seahawks. Should have watched the Cardinals/Cowbody game instead :bang: . Cowboys tied it on the last play to send it to OT and then lost on a blocked punt returned for a TD.

Re: Official NFL Thread 2008-2009

Patriots (3-2-0) 0 3 0 7 10
Chargers (3-3-0) 10 7 10 3 30

NE: M. Cassel (22-38, 203) , W. Welker (9-73)
SD: P. Rivers (18-27, 306) , V. Jackson (5-134)

2nd loss for the Pats, looking ordinary without Tom Brady.

.....................

Packers (3-3-0) 3 7 7 10 27
Seahawks (1-4-0) 0 10 0 7 17

GB: A. Rodgers (21-30, 208) , R. Grant (33-90)
SEA: C. Frye (12-23, 83) , J. Jones (12-44)

Hawks are in free fall. Holmgren should have kept his retirement a secret for the year, although it probably would not have made a difference. I guess he wanted that $5 million salary for one more year.

............................

Rams (1-4-0) 3 7 6 3 19
Redskins (4-2-0) 7 0 0 10 17

STL: M. Bulger (15-26, 136) , S. Jackson (22-79)
WAS: J. Campbell (18-26, 208) , C. Portis (21-129)

Redskins beat the tough teams and lose to a weak one.

.........................

Cowboys (4-2-0) 0 7 7 10 0 24
Cardinals (4-2-0) 7 0 7 10 6 30

DAL: T. Romo (24-39, 321) , M. Barber (11-128)
ARI: K. Warner (22-30, 236) , S. Breaston (8-102)

I was a Cowboys fan at the times when Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson, Bobby Ackles and Bill Parcells were there. Not a fan of Jerry Jones, especially after problems developed between him and Johnson/Ackles.

Re: Official NFL Thread 2008-2009

Well apparently this was the 'week of the exciting finish'. Too bad some of those EXCITING NFL finishes couldn't have rubbed off on the CFL. I was hoping for a great doubledip of threedown followed by a Monday Night NFL nightcap. Manning looked quite old-ELI-like. The Browns kept taking penalties but converting anyway. In fact their punter did not see the field! This MondayNighter was the worst of this season, IMO. Nice to see an underdog knock off a defending Superbowl Champs Giants team.
