Re: To the Lions and their Fans.....

Kind of makes sense. Scuttlebutt was that Wally moved the team onto the field as much to keep the players from retaliating as well as for their own safety. I really do hope that some lessons are learned on both sides from this.
Tell me how long must a fan be strong? Ans. Always.

Re: To the Lions and their Fans.....

seems according to the lions this is NOT the first time this has happened.....

Other Lions risked the same fallout - not from blitzing Roughriders, but from an Infintada of prairie fans who threw full cans of beer from great heights at the B.C. bench in the fourth quarter. Lions on the sidelines were told to pick up their helmets and strap them on as if caught in an air-raid warning.

"They could have done a lot of damage," said Reichelt. "We've had ice and snowballs thrown at us before and one of our docs got hit by a thermos [in Regina]. But I've never seen it like that before."

A freakin thermos???? Whats wrong with ppl in saskatchewan....do they think theyre in the ghetto or something?

Somehow I'm not surprised...boneheads. Who throws a thermos at someone? Ever? Let alone while you're at a football game. I'm not surprised to hear Reichelt admit that they've had snowballs thrown at them too. I figured if people are willing to throw full beer cans at the Lions, snow balls wouldn't be off-limits either. Why don't they just borrow the giant cannon from the mascot, and they can really launch them, that way they don't hit innocent bystanders who just want to watch football?

Article 10 – Crowd Noise
The Team A captain may request the Referee to stop the game if excessive crowd
noise prevents Team A from putting the ball into play. The Referee may permit Team
A to return to its huddle. The Referee shall allow reasonable time but under no
circumstances shall the play be delayed more than three times.
No actual penalty for it. The Rulebook only states a penalty for electronic noise after the offensive team breaks it's huddle. Electronic noise is allowed during the huddle and after the play.
They may be thinking of the NFL. I believe the ref can stop the game ask the crowd (through the team on D) to keep quiet (yeah that would work). He can then take away the D teams timeout and if they don't have one call a 5 yd penalty. I remember them trying this years ago and it just made it worse, so I think they gave up on it.
