I like Joe Smith, but I'm not sure he would have made any difference in that situation.
Montreal was getting unbelievable penetration. Both Lumbala and Logan were swarmed as soon as they were handed the ball, and Pierce couldn't find an offensive lineman to
run behind when he tried to sneak it in. In that situation, Montreal's defence wanted it
more than our offensive line did.

Joe wouldn't have fumbled, and he sure showed what he could do on short yardage against the Als last time he played against them. Joe is money from the stripe, no offence to Lumbala or Logan, but they are not as good in short yardage as Joe is.

Yep, they could have changed the call, but the Lions could have just as easily blown a hole for anyone to run through. The Logan catch to get to the one yard line, could have been a TD if Logan dukes a little better, a game of inches came down to 12 tonight.

Earlier today the question was asked if we play well and lose can you accept that. Well I guess this game falls into the category of acceptable, as a ton of issues seemed to be addressed, although the late TD by the D once again arose and a few bad penalties cost us some yardage.

Joe converted how many 3rd and 1s and TD's against Mtl last time?

The guy is money....and he was needed tonight.
I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008

I don't want to offend any Jarious Jackson fans but Pierce has always been a far superior QB to Jackson and gives the Lions their best chance to win.

The thing that impressed me with Buck's play tonight is his ability to use the whole field and using all his receivers.

I don't consider 6 turnovers playing well. Bright side is our offence looks like it can move the ball some now. Need to win in Hamilton next week though....

agreed....."you fumble the football and i will break my foot off in your john hindparts and then you will run a mile...." seems the lions really need to work on the fundamentals. Pierce did play great, but those picks could not have come at worse times.

Very exciting game at the end. The should permit the refs to tell the players they are lined up offside. Anything to prevent chintzy penalties as there are so many flags in the game already.

I disagree. It's a simple rule and if the players aren't able to look down to see where they've placed their hands before the snap, they deserve to get flagged. It's not too difficult to make sure your hand doesn't touch outside the goalline.

My understanding is that the officials do give a warning in those situations but whether the players hear the warning or heed it is an entirely different matter.
