I'm not sure SM. To SammyGreene's point in another thread, it's a little deceiving because you have bodies in
two upper decks this year. There were probably, what, about 3,000-4,000 in Level 4 last night? Capacity in the Lower Bowl is 29,706. There were probably about 3,000 empty seats in Level 2 (Lower Bowl, mostly in the west end zone), so that would be about right.
Being a 15 year season ticket holder, a few observations:
* WAY more people wear Lions gear to games these days. Compared to 10 years ago, I'd say about 7 or 8 out of 10 wear licensed apparel or something orange to the game. 10 years ago that number would only be about 2 or 3 out of 10.
* Could the 7-11 experiment finally be paying off? Again, just an observation here, but there seem to be more seats occupied in the (two tickets for $39.95) 7-11 east end zone section this year.
* The yahoo quotient has greatly dimished at BC Place.

Sure, there will be
some jackasses at every home game, but I've noticed far fewer disturbances in the stands and fewer idiots running on the field. Credit increased security, the "Fan Not A Fool" campaign, and the (higher) perceived value of Lions tickets as the main reasons. There was one problem in Section 8 last night that was swiftly dealt with. It could be that with a 7:30pm kick-off, some people have more time to get lubed up in the bars/parking lots before hand.
* although mostly ALL seats between the 30 yard lines are pre-sold, a fair number go unoccupied during the summer months. A friend of mine has a theory that these are corporate season tickets that are sold but go unclaimed. People are either away, entertain clients/associates less, or have no desire to go inside in nice weather.
