hmmm someone's a little bitter about the loss  At least the Riders keep their questionable conduct off the field, unlike the Lions. The Lions are really in no place to call the Riders a cheap/dirty/classless/unbearable etc.No Ordinary Joe wrote:The Saskatchewan Roughriders. Whine, whine, whine. Cry, cry, cry. From Carm Carteri threatening to break down doors in BC Place if he hears any "canned noise" to Eric Tillman's rant about Wally Buono and our players to this broad storming in and pointing her finger at Bobby Ackles like she owns the place. I have very little respect for that organization. A lot of their fans are clowns too (there are a few gems though and those of you know who you are) so, as a whole I find it very hard to like anything about the 'Riders. It's not really even the team that I dislike so much, I respect a lot of their players and the skills they possess, it's just all the people around them that make them unbearable. Their constant inferiority complex and "woah is us" sentiment makes me sick and it's things like this that continue to prove that point loud and clear. She's lucky that Bobby didn't toss her out in the street where she belongs after that little stunt.Luke wrote:Of what?No Ordinary Joe wrote:Typical.
Your reading between the lines amazes me. Please tell me how "I respect a lot of their players and teh skills they posses", transfers into "cheap/dirty/classless/unbearable etc"? You are better off trying this on RF, it isn't the time to do this here.Jer Bear wrote:hmmm someone's a little bitter about the loss  At least the Riders keep their questionable conduct off the field, unlike the Lions. Shelley Austin obviously has a lot of emotions vested in our team. She believes the lions are doing inappropriate things to benefit their team. She goes to talk to Hopson who has the authority to make these questions.....She went into an off limit area....ackles and her get into a pissing match....you'd think Ackles would give a little as well....I'm sure both were in the wrong to some degree...Lions_Fan_4_Life wrote:Riders were too worried they were going to lose that they had to make up excuses to try to give the Lions penalties...
Shelley may have crossed the line....but if you put yourself in her shoes...it's easy to see how someone could lose their temper..especially if you're high strung to begin with......but why do you guys hold an entire fanbase accountable for the actions of one person....There are plenty of classy fans who support both our teams.....

It is not the majority of fans...riderfans.com does not represent Rider Nation, while most of them are good on there, it takes a few bad apples to ruin it for the rest of us! That being said it was so nice to see Wally lose after cutting down Carm.No Ordinary Joe wrote:The Saskatchewan Roughriders. Whine, whine, whine. Cry, cry, cry. I have read this more than once on here - starting later DID NOT CAUSE THE LIONS TO LOSE - 4 turnovers and a poor start to the game. Either way Wally went he would get criticized - stay with Jackson and he continued to struggle and wally gets criticized - pull Jackson - time is running out and Wally gets criticized -Why didn't the Lions start the game on-time? Really? All the fans being in the stadium couldn't have been the real reason, could it?
but back to the delay of the start of the game. Several reasons that go into that perhaps - TV networks decision for one - I have seen other sports start late and usually its the networks decision (not the club).

I think that it is the Rider faithful (Hopson himself, and Austins wife who brought up their concerns about this) believe it was to get most of our fans in to make the most noise possible against the Riders O. At least that is the way I have summed up everything about this from two or three different threads revolving around the same situation.mightybuck wrote:I have read this more than once on here - starting later DID NOT CAUSE THE LIONS TO LOSE - 4 turnovers and a poor start to the game. In Toronto I'll remind Bob to use the "Be a fan not a fool" line next time. I can't imagine Sandi doing the same. She has too much class and stays in her seat, she lets her husband and the organization do their business. Maybe others should take note, and I can assure you her passion is no less than any other coaches wife!

So the game started 5 minutes late, big flipping deal. It's not the reason we lost.
If it affected anybody, it was BOTH teams, not just the Riders.
If the delay was so more people could get to their seats, then fine. There were a lot of Rider fans still waiting to get in too. I was in my seat an hour before kickoff, but I could see how chaotic it likely would be out there right at game time with a crowd that size. If they didn't delay the start, then some fans (including Rider fans) would be griping about how they didn't.
Some Rider fans should stop bi$ching about things like this. The Riders won. They have a game next weekend. Move on.
We are looking forward to next year at this point.

What about the Riders shirts? Great idea, BTW. "S**T List (every BC Lion player listed) Play hard for 60 F*****G Minutes."
I read about these rider t-shirts in todays paper. Fine, they beat the Champs (even the Riders admit the Lions are the Champs until next Sunday). Like I said before the West Final 'if your opponents are nobodies then you didn't accomplish much by beating them'. Those games next year are going to be a blast.

I never said its why we lost. Apparently it wasn't CBC's choice to delay the game, it was the Lions. More than anything, I'm just really curious as to why that was the case. Why did the game need to be delayed. Have previous WDFs been delayed because everyone wasn't in the building yet?mightybuck wrote:I have read this more than once on here - starting later DID NOT CAUSE THE LIONS TO LOSE - 4 turnovers and a poor start to the game.
