The blue tarps are off...it's just the GC/WF banners that remain.sj-roc wrote:I don't think there's any reason to stop them from taking down those blue tarps and the GC/WF banners if they sell enough tickets.Newbie wrote:Just a note on the configuration, I'm thinking that all the seats are not available. If you look up and to the right, you'll see tarps on the seats under the banners. How many would be closed off?

and declare that such a crowd will be the largest Western Final crowd in 22 seasons since the 1985 Western Final, and the largest crowd for any game directly INVOLVING a BC Lions team in 21 seasons since the 1986 Regular season game vs. Edmonton where James Bell was hurt

How does one (120chimpy) get so much detail about the rows, different configurations, etc etc etc?!?!!?
This thread seems like just a way for these two/one to pump up their post count........but I can't stop reading it!
Sunday morning will not come soon enough

Regarding BC Place seating configurations, the stadium's website has some cool diagrams showing the different layouts for Canadian Football, American Football, Soccer, Baseball as well as layouts for other events like concerts.
Go to this page to check out it: http://www.bcplacestadium.com/spectatorevents.shtml
Interestingly, it doesn't show additional seating for NFL compared to the CFL config. Soccer does have the additional bleacher seats in the west end zone, yet all three diagrams state a total capacity is 58,208.
Baseball, due to the shape of the field, obviously has a lower capacity and different seating config but given the info from 120db (very impressive and appreciated, by the way) 55,818 might not be the correct possible capacity even for the baseball layout.

8) Some of us are attendance junkies and know all the configurations. I have been following the Lions attendance ever since I was 10 years old, The only time I have been to a sold out BC place was the 2005 grey cup, its not the same as Lions having a sellout, heck I have been waiting for that for 20 years, I am 29 years old and was too young to remember the 80's big crowds, I would love to see that place full on Sunday, some close calls for me were 1991- 53000 for the Rocket Ismail, 55000 for the 94 Grey cup, 50000 for the 2006 west final and 2004 55,000 for that west final, It is very possible that the dome may only be around for another 5 yrs, I just want to see it full once for a Lions game, Will this sunday be the day,? I have done my part and purchased 16 tickets as ,me and my friends have made it annual event, We can do it, I am sure we are at 52,500 this evening and tommorow we will sell 2500 more = 55,000 our usual walk up for a western final is usually 1,500 I think this number is always low because the games are so early in the day so even if people want to go they have to make a decision that morning. Anyways I hope I am wrong and hope we have a walkup of 4000, Anyways go Lions go

At any rate, there appears to be every chance that our WF will once again outdraw the Grey Cup  as was the case in 2004 and 2006  never mind the Eastern Final.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.
Truth is. If not for 120 dB’s posts, I would hardly ever be reading this thread. His insight and stats are exactly what interest me. I don’t know why some people rip on him at every opportunity.
Anyways, I’ll add my 2 cents worth about the crowd size. With all day Saturday and a modest walk-up on Sunday, I feel good about passing the 55k of ‘04. I say 56500.
BTW. Someone posted a message about those dollar store noise horns. I bought one today at the Dollarama at Metrotown. That thing is SICK! It makes the loudest, most annoying noise I’ve ever heard. If 20,000 people had those at the game on Sunday, the CFL would have to postpone the game for safety reasons.

I agree with this statment i think we are going to hit 56,000 close to 57,000 as our final count on sunday, and yeas I think bc place is going to only be around for another 5 years and by then the lions will have another owner or owners and either they will build us a stadium or buy bc place and fix it up , like get rid of about 15,000 seats for reg season games and put in up to 55,000 for playoffs and grey cups.
