CTV Montreal reported that the wife has had her first chemotherapy. Doctors report that it's a very treatable form of cancer.

Either way, Calvillo wouldn't play again this year so they had no choice.

The Alouettes have set up a get well book for anyone who wants to send them best wishes.

don't count out Montreal; they may be tougher now than you may think

the Als players will rally; if B.C. and Montreal meet in the Grey Cup, that will be one hell of an event and an emotional game too

I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008

As much as they'll be fired up for Calvillo, Maas really hasn't "Played" football for 2 years.

The team must be glad to have him at practice even if he's not playing.
And nice to hear that even though it's early, that his wife is doing well so far.
CALVILLO AT PRACTICE TO ENCOURAGE ALS
JOHN SOKOLOWSKI/CFL

Friday, November 9, 2007

MONTREAL (CP) -- Montreal Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo says his wife is responding well to treatment two weeks after being diagnosed with lymphoma.

"She's doing good," an emotional Calvillo said. "She's had one chemo (treatment) and she had no side effects.

"We've had a lot of support from our families and one thing that really helps is the support she's getting from the city and around the league."

Calvillo said while he won't be back with the team this season, he's confident his wife's condition will improve to the point where he will be able to resume his career next season.

Earlier this season Calvillo signed a one-year contract extension with the Alouettes taking him through next year.

Montreal is in shambles and it is unfortunate their best QB has this personal issues he has to deal with. Good luck to the Calvillo family.
