It looks like tomorrow, the Whitecaps will make the date of the exhibition game official:

Sources close to the negotiations confirm that the contest will be played at B.C. Place and that it will come after the USL First Division has its championship game. No one could come up with a firm date yet, but the Whitecaps played in the USL First Division finale last year on Sept. 30.

To your point footy, I think even though there are some Lions fans who will be attending this match, I think the Lions would be very wise to partner with the Whitecaps on this event and offer a special "2-for" discount - tickets for this game and the Lions Sept. 29 game against Calgary for "X."footy wrote:Speak for yourself dude I know many lion fans who will be at this game.Lion Guy wrote:Good news for soccer fans, for the rest of us.......Robbie wrote:The date has been set: Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 7:00 PM at BC Place.

I think there will be a hell of a lot of curious spectators that haven't been to either ('Caps or Lions) that we could tap into and it would be a wonderful opportunity to get our (Lions) gate above 40,000.

Now, now, no need for that. I sent you my wishes to enjoy the game, as I'm sure you will....and for the rest of us that don't 'appreciate' soccer as much as someone like you obviously does, we will mind our business.....as my original post suggested.footy wrote:Speak for yourself dude I know many lion fans who will be at this game.Lion Guy wrote:Good news for soccer fans, for the rest of us.......Robbie wrote:The date has been set: Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 7:00 PM at BC Place.

Good point David...
Looks like the Caps are targeting 30,000 for now with only lower level seats for sale. A good time of the year to pull it off given going indoors won't be an issue, the fall soccer season is in full swing (team group sales) and NHL regular season has yet to start. They will also get to benefit all the hype that will come when he makes his debut with the Galaxy.
We'll definitely be going.
Now Becks better stay healthy. He's currently on the IR with a knee sprain.

Yeah, the link I posted contained that information too.MacNews wrote:Sweet!
Just called the Whitecaps and was told June 9th is the day tickets go on sale to the general public for the LA Galaxy exhibition game. I am so there!
As expected, Whitecaps season ticket holders get first priority:
Tickets for the October 3rd exhibition match at BC Place are included in Whitecaps season tickets and 5-Game Packs. Whitecaps season tickets start at just $199 and 5-Game Packs start at $89. In addition to their included seats for the exhibition match, season ticket and 5-game package holders also receive advance purchase rights for addtional tickets. Call 604.669.WAVE (9283) to secure the best seats for this event.
The individual game tickets start at $35.

I'll consider going, if I can sit in my current seat.

It was over 60,000 for that one, 60,300 and something. Anyways, the game will be lower bowl only for this exibition.Robbie wrote:If 58,452 packed BC Place on October 1, 1983 to see the final Soccer Bowl '83, I'm sure they can draw the same if Beckham came to town. Although the Whitecaps only impress a certain amount of people in Vancouver, I'm sure international soccer celebrities are still a different story.
