Pre Bid started for Waterfront Stadium
The waterfront stadium is now in pre-bid, the project is $67 million, that means no retractable roof. Horseshoe shaped, 6500 seats on each side with 3000 on one end, expandable to 30K, real grass. Now the bad news, construction to start Jan/2009.

Why would it be bad if construction doesn't start until 2009? The majority of Olympic related construction will be done in 2009. It doesn't make sense to put that behind schedule as well because of the already existant problems in construction and skilled trades.

BC Place was built in 2 years and 2 months
BC Place was built in 2 years and 2 months (26 months) so I don't see why a 15,000 seat Stadium can't be ready by 2010 if they start in Jan 2009.
It won't hold the Lions but it can hold Olympic activities. Why it will take the City of Vancouver 2 more years of dragging its feet and doing studies and doing rezoning hearings is beyond me.

Because they can ! Vancouver politicians are not noted for their proactiveness.120dB wrote: Why it will take the City of Vancouver 2 more years of dragging its feet and doing studies and doing rezoning hearings is beyond me.
well I dunno
well I'm not sure; the Whitecaps seem to feel they will break ground in Spring 2008.
If they are going to build the whole Stadium right over the Seabus terminal as is currently now planned (they moved the site location), it will require driving pilings similar to the new Convention Center.

Was there major infrastructure being built in 1981, or whenever they broke ground for BC Place?120dB wrote:BC Place was built in 2 years and 2 months (26 months) so I don't see why a 15,000 seat Stadium can't be ready by 2010 if they start in Jan 2009.
