Oh, I didn't know that the Lions would bring that trophy along too. Touching that trophy is such a rarity as I'd say that one rarely makes any public appearances.

I wonder if the Lions will take a team championship picture similar to this one they took in 2000:

With BC Place being unavailable and with the team dispersing soon after the end of the season, I wonder if and where they will take such a picture, and if the West Division Championship trophy will be in that picture too.

They took similar pics on the steps of the Art Gallery after.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Okay, thanks smphantom.

Here's another question for anyone if you happen to notice. Were any players or staff members missing from today's gathering?

Being an "outdoor stadium" kind of guy I loved the venue, but I realize for maximum effect they could have quadrupled their numbers if they'd held it in the evening at GM Place (the Canucks are out of town all this week after all). They could still have done the "We Are Champions" schtick on the arena PA complete with the scoreboard graphics etc. Still, I thought it was a great turnout for a Tuesday afternoon and I really enjoyed the intimate atmosphere.

After a long delay (bordering on too long....the natives were getting restless and I was worried the sun was going to disappear. Fast.), MC Phil Reimer called each member of the team up to the Art Gallery steps. Phil was a curious choice....I didn't know he had any affiliation with the club and be botched a few of the names. Not sure why Lions pre and post-game host Scotty Rintoul was not handed the whole thing....he knows the team intimately. Anyway, after the intros, Bobby and Wally said a few words, then Scotty came up and called some of the key personnel up to the podium for interviews - Aaron Hunt, Tyrone Williams, Paul McCallum, Dave Dickenson, and Brent Johnson. There was a lot of love at that rally! Shouts of "One More Year," "We Want Carl" "Re-peat" Wal-ly, Wal-ly" bellowed throughout the hour long event.

Then dozens of black and orange helium balloons were unleashed into the slate gray sky, the legendary Dal Richards led the crowd through a stirring rendition of our fight song, "Roar You Lions Roar" then the players took the mic and did their own chant and response with the crowd. Very cool! The players (Carl Kidd and Bobby Singh) then took the Grey Cup that was being passed around the team and shared it with crowd while the DJ played "We Are The Champions."

The threatening skies then shed a few tears for the end of the season, and the crowd quickly disbursed hoping to do it all again in 12 months time.

Awesome recap Dave, wish I could have made it, sounds like a good time was had by all. Thanks for the pics jim604, nice job they're sharp and not at all blurry, nice!

Have to agree Dave, it would have been wise to have the event at an indoor location (Even Plaza of Nations would've been better) since it's November and it gets cold, dark and rainy fast. But it still seems like the event went great were the Felions there at all?

In that first picture posted by jim604, a few Felions appear at the far left and far right of the photograph. I wonder if all the Felions were there.

Did mayor Sam Sullivan or premier Gordan Campbell show up?

While this gathering is better than nothing, I'm still longing for a parade and big celebration from the days after the 1985 Grey Cup. Even the city of Toronto, whose Argonauts may be overshadowed by their popular Maple Leafs, Raptors, and Blue Jays, held a parade for their football club when the won the Grey Cup in 1996, 1997, and 2004.

Were they afraid not enough people would show up at BC Place, or they could have used GM place, or even the coliseum.
They are setting up the stage for the Rolling Stones.

No and No. Phil Reimer read a proclamation from the Mayor declaring today as BC Lions Day in Vancouver. The province will declare tomorrow as BC Lions Day in British Columbia

Simmons and Boden were missing.

Sullivan nor Campbell were in attendance, most likely for Sullivan because of last night, and Cambell is in Asia.

Priceless when Phil Reimer called Wally BUONO Wally BONO! ahahaha

The Felions were there, a dozen give or take, and performed at the start.

Crazy P sucks, have to reitterate that.

According to my dad, the 85 parade was poorly attended, maybe that's why there hasn't been one since.

isnt that supposed to be a bad thing...bad for animals or something??

That's funny, I was thinking the same thing at the time.
I don't know about animals or birds, but evidently 747 jet engines don't like them much.

And yet, Reimer nailed Sherko Haji-Rasouli...............................

If it makes anyone feel any better, only 3 Felions showed up at the Shark Club.

I thought I'd add some of my pics. They are similar in angle to jim604's pictures. Infact I saw the back of my head in one of them.

Ha-ha, where else in Canada can the Grey Cup Champs stand outside to greet their adoring fans in shirt sleeves in late November? :beauty:

Lloyd Robertson on CTV National News put the crowd count at over 2,000. Considering it was raining in the morning and held on a Tuesday afternoon when most people are at work or in school, I thought this was a very good number. We even got a few loud honks from passing trucks today.

The players seemed pleased too. Mark Washington and Otis Floyd both mentioned the fan support in BC on the news tonight. Carl Kidd was also impressed with the turn-out and remarked to the TV cameras that it's a huge jump in numbers since the 2000 Grey Cup rally.

Huge media presence too.
