A good movie and ground breaking in some ways. Redford insisted that the movie be filmed au naturel as opposed to a Hollywood back lot. It contributed to the larger than life feeling that the movie possessed and set a new standard for production values.

In light of the passing of former U.S. first lady Barbara Bush, you may remember this cartoon show telecast on April 21, 1990 with in introduction by both then-U.S. President George H. W. Bush and the first lady.

1. The New York Mets won the World Series over the Boston Red Sox in seven games, with the most memorable one being game 6 in which the Red Sox led by 2 runs and got 2 outs and twice came within a strike from winning it all but instead allowed the Mets to score 3 runs with the third one courtesy of Bill Buckner's huge blunder.
One player who has committed one of the infamous blunders in sports history, Bill Buckner, has passed today of dementia. I wonder if anyone would want to spit on his grave.

I'm sure you remember seeing this large statue on the southern end of Granville bridge in front of the then Pacific Press building:
Image

In 1997 it was moved to Surrey and then was moved to storage in 2015.

It will be moved to Granville Island hopefully by July 2021.

Regardless where they put it in Granville Island, it will likely be vandalized often again similar to when it was placed in 2250 Granville St, with a particular section of the statue which is always targeted.
