Right now, if there was a cross-over the Edmonton Eskimos would be the cross over team.

The playoff cross-over was implemented in 1996. Eight teams have made the playoffs via the crossover since the rule’s inception, All teams who have qualified for the playoff cross over have been from the West. No Eastern team has ever qualified for the playoff cross over.

Only two of the eight cross over teams have won their first-round playoff matchup. No cross over team has ever advanced further than the Eastern Final.

Guess which CFL team has benefited most from the cross-over format. None other than our B.C. Lions who have been a playoff cross over team 4 times, only winning one playoff of the four times we played. We won a cross over playoff game in 2009, with Casey Printers at quarterback. We lost the crossover playoff in 2014, 2003, and 1997.

Edmonton and Saskatchewan have been the other CFL playoff cross over teams, with both teams being in the cross over playoff game twice.

The cross over has helped our B.C. Lions to have such a good recent record of making the playoffs.

Never been a fan of the crossover. Always been a West versus East traditionalist. I say that even though it might be the Bombers that end up 4th in the west and become the crossover team.
