Has anyone received their season's membership package yet? I believe it was being sent out yesterday....

And still no word of a Vancouver Fanfest?!?!

Got my package today, featuring season cards printed with the names of each seat holder rather than all in my name, as we had to option to choose this year. I didn't notice much else in the package, other than the accompanying lanyards.

Received my package in the mail this morning. A bit disappointed there was no swag other than the ticket cards and lanyard. Nice to see a pictorial of the Lions' jerseys from 1954 to the present.

Hey all,

The Dennis Skulsky interview that began this thread was a fantastic bit of radio, and the first interview I've ever heard him give where he didn't come across as tone-deaf. As many have pointed out, we've needed a kids section for years. We need to get families into the stadium and when they're there, they need to be catered to.

What he should do is get on the radio again and stress the point that the $5 kids ticket will be tried again soon. The opening game will be an opportunity for the team to try it, assess it, work out the kinks, and that the team will have another promotion again soon.

I've banged on about tailoring a stadium experience to kids for years, but the Lions should be bending over backwards to make sure every kid gets a picture with Leo the Lion or some cheerleaders, a free popcorn, a power-paw, a pop, a hotdog, a little football, a poster, whatever. They should go all out. Because all of those parents will get on Facebook and gush about how well they were treated and how much fun their kids had. And that is a winning formula.

Cheers,

James

I really think Empire hurt the momentum the Lions had with 33,000 averages. We should be able to get back there but its going to be a lot of hard work that they should've started before they moved back into BC Place.

Glad they're on it now though and really need to get this attendance back to the 30's and eventually 40's. I gotta say i'm pretty disappointed the new stadium couldn't put 40k in every night but I guess that's not enough anymore.

I signed up for season membership this years so there's at least one new season member that's never been a season ticket holder before

True, the move to Empire Field disrupted the momentum they had, but their 2010 performance - which was pretty abysmal at Empire and likely only marginally better at BC Place - would likely have seen crowds drop off anyway.

That said, the club vastly overshot the runway when projecting demand in a refurbished BC Place and got greedy with year-over-year price increases as well as a high priced low-end admission (they viewed the corner end zones as being desirable.....WRONG!). The collective eyes of the Lions' front office (Braley, Skulsky, and Chayka) lit up with dollar signs when they heard 'retractable roof' but thus far, an improved stadium experience hasn't been enough to get the average fan off his or her couch. I do blame the lack of blackouts and mediocre on-field performance for part of this.

I really do think attendance will improve in 2016 though.

Ran across an eye-catching and thought-provoking tweet the other day.... A Lion's fan was giving VWFC fans a virtual slap to the face by stating the Leos were going to have 26,000-27,000 in attendance for the pre-season game at BC Place; more than the Whitecaps could achieve for a playoff game.

Probably just trolling and not some sort of crystal ball but if the Leo's approach those sort of numbers for a pre-season game, I will plotz big time! But in a good way.....

I can't imagine the Lions get a full house Friday, but that would be pretty cool.

I do wonder if Kamloops - as much as the team likes it and as much as it works for fans in the Interior - is a bit of an out of sight thing in the Lower Mainland?

Lions just plop back into Vancouver, have a game on Friday, and I wonder if they've missed a bunch of opportunities to really promote the product in the city.
For a lot of sideline fans, I think training camp just gets a miss completely, and that's two weeks that the Lions could be using to really push what theyre doing.

I'm not trying to be negative here, but I have wondered about this in the past.

I think most tickets will be gone for Friday but there will be a lot of no shows , it is the same in the NFL for preseason

Looks like they've finally listened to what many of us have been calling (shouting?) for, for some time: getting youth to attend games with affordable tickets. It seems like a no-brainer (they typically bring their parents to games, after all), but this concept seems to have escaped the Lions' front office and marketing departments - or they just didn't see it as a need, until now.

* For the home opener on Saturday June 25, they're going to have a $5 ticket available for all kids 12 and under. That's 5 bucks, all in!

* They're also introducing "Kid's Club" (presumably a youth section?) sponsored by Springfree Trampolines.

Just checked the $5 kids deal online. That's any price category for $5 which is really quite remarkable. It's too bad these early season games have always been a tough sell for the walk-up crowd regardless of what year or how the team fared the previous season.

Hey all,

Have you seen the BC Lions "Kid's Club"? This is just what the doctor ordered.

http://www.bclions.com/kidsclub/

Some really fine work by the Lions there.

I really hope the Lions are asking when kid's birthdays are when they sign up. An 'out of the blue' birthday card signed by a favourite player, a telephone call, or even the odd player visit to a birthday party, would be a huge, *huge* marketing and PR win.

Cheers,

James

Glad to see the Lions finally deciding to market the game to the kids. Long overdue.

Back in the '90's, along with my season ticket, I was able to get a $33 season ticket for my kid in the Kids Zone section. I was in my regular seat and my son was in the Kids Zone section near the goal line. The Kids Zone was supervised and the kids had their own Hot dog/drink concession stand and were escorted to bathrooms, so very safe. My son and I would go for a pre-game meal and then head to the stadium. Of course, more often than naught, we would be throwing mini-footballs in the upper deck hallways by the end of the game. It was very good times, and my son developed into a CFL fan and even had his own season tickets as an adult until he moved away from Vancouver.

Affordable kids tickets can be a good way to bring parents and kids and team together. Good on the Lions...

It appears that the 3-year deal with Coast Capital Savings as a premier partner has expired (2013-2015) and has not been renewed.

The good news is that it's one less jersey patch. :roar:

Oh thank Zeus. That thing looked dreadful. Now if I could ever figure out what it is CP is selling that it would want to advertise on jerseys to CFL fans. Is shipping by rail a big consumer item?
