Kent Austin post game.

Very classy comments. Upbeat. No blaming. Credits Calgary. Proud of his team. Came close to winning.

No blame. You hear that Toppy? LOL

I can't comment on that goal line failure. Getting a drink.

On the replay it looks like a good call. The tackler was in position to make a play. Whether we makes or not is up for debate.

It must have hurt Stubler to be dropped by the Leos at the end of last season so good for him.
Slight dig at the Lions for letting him go ?

Not questioning the official's call, it was completely right. But a bonehead move by the blocker.

Met a group of Rider fans from out of town. (Saskatoon). Said Vancouver did an outstanding job in hosting the Grey Cup

My impression ... Great Grey Cup, all the way.

Usually don't like half time shows. Thought that band was awesome. Great show. Gracious comments about the host nation. I rarely listen to the words of loud music, but loved the feeling of their songs. Very dramatic and emotional, as I indicated earlier.

Anybody know the contract status on Tate? Thinking that he and Lulay would be a good 1 and 1a QB option. Tate on the other hand isn't going to want to be a perennial backup to Mitchell so I think his days as a Stamp are going to be numbered. He will either request a trade or be signed as a FA if that is where his contract status is.

We have heard he is under contract for one more year.

Talented guy. Does he look like Wally's kind of QB? Somewhat hot headed? Looks great with Hufnagel and Dickenson to guide him, and Bo Levi to be the starter, keeping Drew's head from getting too big.

He certainly has some fan support here. Me ... Not so much. He seems a bit strange with the media too. Saying the play calling of "Dickie" was the problem. Tongue in cheek, but the reporter was not sure.

Not hating on them, but gave them a skip. Did two laps of the concourse during that half hour. A game like GC, it's a treat to take in the sights — to see all the fans from across the league in their distinctive outfits. Box J Boys. Booze Brothers. Sometimes you run into a friend you hadn't seen in a while. Sometimes you see some well-known faces. Pitblado was in the concourse during halftime, to my slight surprise (i.e., why not a corporate suite?). Also spotted Lui chatting with some other folks (fans?), wearing his 1994 championship jacket. He looks good for a man with his recent well-documented health troubles. Wish him well as always. And for unknown (to me) reasons, Brian Williams visited my section during the first half. Almost all the way to the very back row. Seemed out of his way whatever he was doing there.

Pretty sure I spotted Chapdelaine just before exiting the building. Or a very good doppelgänger. Checking his phone. A message about a coaching vacancy somewhere?

The acoustics at BC Place leaves a lot to be desired to catch the halftime act. It's probably a heck of a lot better watching it on TV. At least you can hear what they're singing.

Did Austin take any responsibility himself for the loss? He should have as he made numerous bad decisions both before (Sinkfield over either Ellingson or Koch) and during the game. His clock management was absolutely horrible. He should have used a timeout with around a minute left in the first half to give him team a chance to score more points when they had all of the momentum and he should have taken a timeout prior to Paredes' last punt of the game when there was still 1:12 on the clock. Horrible decision-making on Austin's part but I doubt that Kent will own up to it.

Sorry I havnt been around this season, comments on the gc game. Good game, a lot of bad calls, allowing Rene Paredes (30) to stand a centre field for 8 minutes while he cheers his stamps on. (Should be too many men call) but THE BETTER TEAM HAD WON STAMPS WANTED IT MORE!!

Well, the repair by the welder at a Winnipeg metal shop lasted for *just* eight years after Kelly Bates broke it in 2006. Now, it's broken again.
Image

The trophy ambassadors must be so furious now and I wonder what Vancouver metal shop they will hire to make repairs again.

I noticed Hufnagel grab it by the very top and bottom when Cohon handed it over and right away I thought back to Bates. It was handling it in this very fashion that caused the damage in 2006. It's been said you're not supposed to hold it by the rim or handles of the cup part; your top hand has to be no higher than where this guy's right hand is holding the cup portion. But when you're over the moon with how you've just won a championship you're not necessarily thinking with maximum clarity, even if you were previously made fully aware of this — which most of the winning team members probably were NOT.

Not that it's a big deal or anything, but I didn't notice any gov't reps on hand for the presentation. I recall when Cgy last won, in Mtl in 2008, the trophy was presented by then-federal finance minister, the late Jim Flaherty who passed away earlier this year.

"Did Austin take any responsibility himself for the loss?" Not that I could see in the clip. He was busy dishing out praise.

IMO both Hufnagel and Austin did an outstanding job this year, and, indeed, in every year they have been in the CFL.
