Wonder how much (if any) of a factor does his pending back surgery will impact on Buono's decision to coach another year

Tedford had planned to install a new offence, as Blitz notes. He brought in Cortez as OC and Doug Malone to coach the OL. But the new system was scrapped and we went with the same old offence, the spread.Blitz wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2017 7:59 pmWhen a very experienced Head Coach and with a lot of knowledge regarding the CFL game announces, before the season begins, that he wants to go with a different offence using a tight end system, hires his own offensive coordinator, and recruits two big athletic tight ends for his system and........
then all season we run a spread offence, with those big athletic tight ends being used as recievers lined up in the outside slot position and the offence looks exactly like the same spread offence we have always used in the Buono era.....
it begs some really serious questions.
But other than that, things couldn't be better!WestCoastJoe wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2017 12:44 am** The product on the field is disappointing. ** The offence shows sparks but is inconsistent. ** The young QB has some confidence issues, as he faces defences fully prepped for our predictable passing game, gets huge pressure, hits and sacks, with receivers under tight coverage. ** The pass protection is very poor. ** The defence is oftentimes a sieve. ** Pressure on the opposing quarterback is lacking. ** Special Teams are a mess, oftentimes fooled with trick plays. ** The fan support is dwindling. ** The owner is aging, absentee and out of touch. ** The GM and Head Coach, the old Lion, Wally Buono, is also getting long in the tooth. ** Both men have faced health issues.

IIRC, the big tight end signing the Lions had ended up getting injured early in the season. That put the kibosh on their plans.Blitz wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2017 7:59 pmWhen a very experienced Head Coach and with a lot of knowledge regarding the CFL game announces, before the season begins, that he wants to go with a different offence using a tight end system, hires his own offensive coordinator, and recruits two big athletic tight ends for his system and........

My recollection is that Jennings attended a spring tryout camp and Tedford fingered Jennings as a guy he wanted to invite to TC, while Cortez didn't even remember that Jennings was at a Riders tryout camp the previous spring when Cortez was Riders OC.The_Pauser wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2017 11:53 amDid Tedford find a good young QB in Jennings? Or did out scouts/GM find that talented QB?
From Aaron Rogers:Fresno State's Jeff Tedford named Mountain West Conference football coach of the year. That gives him a $50,000 bonus. He's at $550,000 in bonuses so far
Very proud and thankful to have been coached by @CoachTedford. What he has done this year at @FresnoStateFB is remarkable! I'm also extremely excited about @CalFootball with Coach Wilcox leading our program. Two phenomenal coaches. #teddy #hollywood #GoBears
He's doing well, Sammy, professionally and financially. Like a lot of these coaches, though, he has to watch out for his health.SammyGreene wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 4:45 pmFair to say even if everything worked out wonderfully in BC that Tedford would have been 2 seasons and done here at the most. Just way too much value as an NCAA Div 1 head coach. The convenience store record has become all too much the norm in recent years.WestCoastJoe wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2017 12:44 am
The team went 7-11 and Tedford, Cortez and Malone were shown the door, after the one year semi-departure from the norm. 7-11, coincidentally, the same results as this year.
