The Lions need a store front like this one - amazing. Modern, fresh and LOTS of products, some I've never seen before.

Seems odd to see Blue Bomber shirts available in so many non-team colours. Can't imagine Lion shirts in say, blue or green or yellow — if those are actually out there I've never seen them.

I have seen a selection of pink coloured Lions T-shirts and hats....and some plaid hats as well. Most of the non-orange gear is for women.

That is one nice looking store. Makes me want to buy something if I was ever there. It will be very difficult for Lions to have a store like that inside BC Place since they don't own the stadium. The best they can do is to setup these temporary looking stores on game days.

I specifically omitted that colour since pretty much all teams have them (I've seen them and as you say they are aimed at women). I'm referring to their non-pink and non-blue/gold colour stuff, which doesn't seem to make any sense or have any obvious target demographic. Maybe they're going after fans who, while they would potentially buy team gear, aren't necessarily insistent about wearing exact team colours and are looking as much for something in colours they can incorporate into the rest of their wardrobe? Like, if you already had a bunch of shirts in all sorts of colours except red and wanted to add that particular colour for variety's sake, maybe you'd buy a red one with your team's logo on it if it were available, even if red isn't one of your team's colours. I know not everyone would see it that way (some might even consider it heresy for teams to be pushing product in "foreign"/"enemy" colours).

The Lions don't need a store. They need to make the investment and have several stores throughout the Province.

This is one of the few things the Raiders and Cleveland Indians do right. You can get Raider gear anywhere in the State of California at The Raider Image. You can get Cleveland Indians gear anywhere in Cleveland at Indians shops. In fact, population wise, Cleveland and Vancouver are fairly similar. The Indians have stores throughout the metro that sell Indians wear (along with that of other teams). None of the other teams have a retail presence. The Indians, like the Lions, are second fiddle in their respective markets.

A store at the stadium is nice, but if you want to make an actual retail impact, it's time to set up shop beyond just game day.

Couldn't agree more. Would be nice if the Lions expand their line of souvenirs other than coffee mugs, and jerseys.

How difficult would it be to for the Lions and Whitecaps to team up and build a store in BC Place, similar to what the Seahawks / Sounders have at Century Link in Seattle??

It was reported the other day that the new Target outlets that just opened (at least the one in Coquitlam where they did the newspaper story) carries BC Lions merchandise.

If someone can go to a Target and report back what they carry, it would be appreciated. We don't have Target stores yet in Vancouver proper.

The template in American markets is that there is half of an aisle dedicated to a limited selection of clothing for market appropriate pro and college sports teams.

In Cleveland, this is represented as Ohio State, Indians, Browns, smattering of Cavaliers.

In Alaska, this is Alaska-Anchorage, the Seahawks and Mariners.

In Detroit, this is the Lions/Tigers/Red Wings/Pistons, Michigan and Michigan State.

Typically a small selection of merchandise carried in season, with primary team merchandise carried year round. It should be somewhere between Sporting Goods and Toys. I'm curious if your market will get Seahawks and Mariners items.

FWIW I've heard that the new locations in Edmonton are carrying a small amount of Esks gear.

Was at the Target store at Scottsdale Mall in North Delta last night. As Cro points out, they use the same template as the American stores with half an aisle of pro sports team merchandise — everything from coffee mugs to shirts. This store was 80 percent Canucks and 20 percent Blue Jays. No sign of Lions gear anywhere else, except for CFL balls in sporting goods.
Maybe the Coquitlam store was an 80/20 split with the Canucks/Lions?
