Bombers letting Micah Awe go makes me think they will target Sol E. It would be a very good move imo.
Cept they still have Bighill, plus recently re-signed Kyrie Wilson (who plays Will OLB ?- and is pretty average / over-rated IMO), so where would Sol-E fit in there ?

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

More excellent news. Moj made a comment today after the Burnham announcement about how it seems the Lions are taking care of the defense by firming up the back end first and moving forward. Pretty much have the back 8 locked down and appear to be moving on the DL now. After that the most gaping are...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

Love the Lokombo reunion. Now lets see some DL action. I don't know what Rick Campbell's intentions are with Lokombo and Guzylak-Messam. They're both versatile. One could easily start at WILL and the other at safety. The Lions still have pending free agent linebackers Adam Konar, Jordan Herdman-Ree...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

Bo Lokombo comes home to sign with Lions !

Excellent get - guy is a stud D talent IMO, lots of CFL experience, and can play at both OLB (maybe MLB too) or safety, and even switch between LB and safety looks to confuse Ds.

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

Collins had a very nice breakout year in Edmonton in 2019. In BC the year before he was just very, very average. Seemed inconsistent to me. Occasionally a flash but for the most part meh. Good on him for getting it together in Edmonton. I was very impressed by Collins when i first saw him play a bi...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

Lemar Durant being the "one of these things is not like the other" in that group. Could be that he is. Nic Demsky is in a similar situation. I like Anthony Coombs better at the price. Ellingson back to Edm makes for a crowded lineup. Ricky Collins and Rodney Smith are both underrated. Arm...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

I like it. I think all the guy needs is a chance to play. He's looked good at a variety of positions when he gets some reps. Physically he looks imposing yet athletic for such a big dude. Knevel is an OT by trade - tall (mark of almost all pro OTs these days) & massive and that was his experien...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

The Lions have also signed national receivers and Cordell Hastings (6 ft. 3, 195 lb. 2020 fifth round draft pick from Acadia) and Jacob Scarfone (6 ft. 1, 205-lb. 6th round 2017 Hamilton draft pick from Guelph who played two seasons as a backup for Rick Campbell in Ottawa). There's still no word on...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

Knevel is an OT by trade - tall (mark of almost all pro OTs these days) & massive and that was his experience in Div I ball, no? Doubt he is going to get to start at OT for the Lions if it is an import only position; maybe he can make the transition to be a good CFL OG, but he has lots of compe...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

Montreal looking good at receiver with BJ Cunningham signing to go along with Eugene Lewis, Naaman Roosevelt and Jake Weineke. Not sure how they plan to work the ratio. Henoc Muamba helps. In 2019 they typically had 3 OL plus Muamba at MLB. Safety was a starting spot with Loffler but he only played...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

Burnham tweeting a warning by the sounds of things. I could see Winnipeg in the bidding on this. They have been looking for that piece for a while. Burnham would be a huge get for the Bummers. They just don't have an all-around receiver talent for a #1 guy. Ellingson would work there too, IMO.

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

IF a CFL team goes 5 NIs on O (3 interior O-linemen + 2 receivers - and count the H-back as part of the receiver corps), it doesn't matter if an H-back is one of the offence who plays once in a blue moon, as long as it's 2 NI (standard - slot or WR) receivers or else one + an H-back ; 5 pack is the ...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

Ottawa had used an H-back some over the past few seasons (Beaulieu was a real good one IMO); so, when the H-back goes in, he replaces one of the starting NI receivers? Not really so in Ottawa where Sinopoli was a starting fixture at slot and would not come out for the H-back. Still going to be most...
