Re: CFLPA looking into all rookie deals from 2007
Would seem that a smart agent would be wise to negotiate a long term contract in case his client doesn't excel and thus give him security in his mediocrity. If he turns out to be good then simply say "we really didn't want anything longer than a year, but we were only offered a longer contract&...

Re: CFLPA looking into all rookie deals from 2007
I'm lost here, is it a requirement to offer one plus an option to rookies? Can you not offer two and an option?

Re: Report: Wake wants out of his contract
I guess at the end of the day though, how well will a player play, if he wants out! It's sad that a contract means so little in sports , but that seems to be the rule rather than the exception (loyalty is also in short supply on both sides). Would be good if he stayed and played to the best of his a...

Re: the resurrection of side deals: teams trying to cheat cap?
cromartie, the "small market "riders as you call them generated a league record in revenues last year of $23 million. i can guarantee you the lions weren't even close to that. It was a Rider record not a league record I believe. Also with that much in Revenue but only $1.7 million dollar ...

Re: the resurrection of side deals: teams trying to cheat cap?
Clearly DerekDD is very concerned about teams cheating the cap. I am sure he is posting his thoughts on the teams sites of those who were in violation this year and questioning their ethics? After all why waste time on idle speculation when there are hard facts available?

Re: the resurrection of side deals: teams trying to cheat cap?
Derek cannot accept that BC was under the SMS Luxury Tax, and his team was over, no more, no less. It isn't a Salary Cap, and it won you a Grey Cup. Why not accept victory? You won. Why all this BC hatred again? i can accept the fact the lions paid up front bonuses of a million dollars in front loa...

Re: Jimenez Arbitration Ruling
The CFL apparently has no right to discipline anyone for anything. Chop anyone you want at the knees from behind - they will miss the rest of the year - you will get to keep playing. And spare me discussions about grainy videos and lack of evidence and "due process" (hint: the administrat...

Re: Jimenez Arbitration Ruling
I'm certainly not suggesting you can't be a fan or have an opinion that is different than mine, in fact thats what makes this site fun and indeed different from some other sites. I am just saying in the absence of any kind of evidence, at least that I've seen ,and after a ruling by folks who I would...

Re: Jimenez Arbitration Ruling
I guess at some point you have to have a little faith in the system. They went through the process and made a ruling, I guess you can choose to believe it or not. I never saw it so I choose to believe that while there was a injury that was extremely unfortunate, it was not the result of an intent to...

Re: Lion 08 Draft Picks
I think we can afford to take some chances in this draft because of our Canadian depth, a luxury not every team can afford. We are benefiting from good long range planning. If Sorenson does play up here great, if not it was still worth a shot.
Heard good things about Shaw.

Re: CFL 07 SMS Disclosure
Good to see the move towards spending transparency and a penalty for those who break the rule. As previously stated though there will always be some fans who disbelieve the results, but you have to start somewhere. I'm sure the teams that were fined will be keeping the other teams honest!
