Re: Bye bye Shrum Bowl and SFU football

It all gets complicated. The governing organizations don't like the idea of schools only participating minimally. For instance to compete in Div II the school must sponsor at least 5 men's and 5 women's sports or 4 men's and 6 women's. They must sponsor at least 2 team sports for each sex and each ...

Re: Rourke NFL workouts: chooses Jacksonville

Jaguars signed QB C.J. Beathard to a two-year contract extension. Beathard has been Trevor Lawrence's backup in each of the past two years. During his time in Jacksonville, he has thrown 13 passes for 68 passing yards and an interception. He previously made 12 starts over a three-year span with the ...

Re: Who will be moving on?

I see Dane and VA as similar in that they can get in their own way when things don't go their way. I believe some missed plays can affect their confidence and they start to overthink things. VA even mentioned in an interview that he tried to do too much when he came here, fully aware of Rourke's su...

Re: Montreal Back Under League Control

As I see it, the problem with CFL franchise sales is that there simply don't seem to be that many suitable buyers in any given market. As a result, it often seems that the CFL can't really be too choosy if the alternative is no ownership and being league run or worse, folding. This is also a proble...

The Mrs. made me go through my vast collection of Lions gear and make some tough choices. I just want her to go to a good home.

DM me if interested.

Re: Who will be moving on?

I sort of hoped that BC would sign a QB who might compete for #1 rather than just give the job to Vernon Adams. I'm not sold that this offense fits Adams either. Maybe they'll luck out like other teams and find a back up who can eventually be a starter. I feel bad for Michael O' Connor if he's gone...

Re: Who will be moving on?

It has been said before that running backs a dime a dozen. And it has also been said, and worth repeating, that the good RBs that can run inside and outside, catch, and block are a lot more scarce. IMO, Butler is one of those guys and worth every dime he gets paid. I just hope it ends up that the L...

Chungh and Godber on the island today doing school presentations & pub appearances . Read into that for what it’s worth.

Re: Who will be moving on?

Fajardo is probably the best answer to the backup QB position and his time in Regina is up. (I also don't think he's going to get starter's money anywhere else, frankly). I'm not sure how much more tape the rest of you need to see on O'Connor but it's evident to me, at least, that the processing abi...

Re: Rourke NFL workouts: chooses Jacksonville

None of you appear to understand just what’s been lost here. There is no better ambassador for not just the CFL but Canadian football in general than a Canadian born quarterback playing the Canadian game at a successful level. None. It’s good for the game at every level, it’s good for the team, it’s...

Re: Rourke NFL workouts: chooses Jacksonville

Great move by Rourke. Jacksonville is an up and coming team and if (when) he makes backup, he's only 1 injury away from starting some games. One he starts and impresses, he can look at NFL free agency and get a pay bump on other teams. Could you tell me the last time this happened in the 21st centu...

Re: Rourke NFL workouts: chooses Jacksonville

Aside from the fact Trevor Lawrence has #1 locked up this is a really good situation for Rourke and exactly what he was looking for. Jacksonville's coaching staff is loaded with the type and quality of offensive coaches that will be huge in his development; HC Doug Pederson, OC Press Taylor, Passin...

I don’t even have the energy to process a career decision this stupid today.

I look forward to losing the WDF with VA this fall.
