Makes me realize how spoiled I was as a Lions fan with Lui handling all three of the jobs for all those years.....
McCallums done well for awhile too but had various guys auditioning to be his replacement. Still outlasted them all too....

Re: Cortez release by Riders
Well the choice of questions and scenarios is very important, but what I was getting at is the enormous gains in both reliability and validity of the ratings when multiple data points are aggregated. This is where the panel interview is valuable. Instead of being held captive to the biases of a sin...

Re: Cortez release by Riders
Right. The kind of panel interview that I had envisioned is one structured as you have described it, but with operational, "how would you solve this problem" kinds of questions. .................... It's true that Wally is really the guy who will be making the final decision, but having a...

Re: Official NFL Thread: 2014-2015 Season
Oops, forgot to post about Cam Newtons car accident. Apparently he was in a car accident that resuolted in two transverse bones in his lower back being broken. Amazing the talk quickly turns to "so is he gonna play" but thankfully that chatter got shut down quick. The man is recovering WIT...

Re: Official NFL Thread: 2014-2015 Season
The Thursday night game might be a good one: Cardinals at Rams. ..... I'm looking forward to it. The Cards QB is doing his best but he came into the season as a backup. The Rams have been making TONS of news due to their ON-FIELD but still off-field issues. :dizzy: Whaddya I mean by that? Well, cou...

Re: Official NFL Thread: 2014-2015 Season
The Monday nighter: Falcons at Packers. Funny game. Looked like a rout at the end of the first half--31-7 Packers. But the Packers' defense just looked awful in the second half, letting the Falcons hang around, and, actually, almost win. Julio Jones ran wild through the Packers' secondary for 259 y...

Re: Just in Time For Christmas...Top Ten
Glad to read some positive thoughts about the Lions. Not that negative ones can't or shouldn't be talked about. IMO, it will be our strengths that help us do better and perhaps win a championship in the near future. For e.g. my favourite NFL team is known for not having a SOLID offence but its their...

Re: Wally Buono Press Conferences - Post Season
...... Taaffe is also the same age as Wally, so doesn't really fit with Wally's mantra of someone new and fresh. I'm not so sure (Wally would know since its his brain, I'm trying to say I know about  ) its AGE that matters. I think its approach. For e.g. Pete C. head coach of the Seahawks pro...

Re: Cortez release by Riders
Prior to my current job I had NEVER interviewed people for a job. Now I frequently have participated in 'panel' interviews. We all hear the persons answer and score it individually. Then we discuss afterwards. I think that there can be an element of 'groupthink' if panel type interviews are not held...

Re: Grey cup or Super bowl better party
I have to admit I've only ever been to a Superbowl Party. It was the last time the Raiders were involved. Grey Cup parties are NOT something I'd enjoy simply because a quiet focus on the game itself. Feasting on food and a lollipop or two? For sure but I don't want to be sitting next to people wonde...

Re: Official NFL Thread: 2014-2015 Season
I enjoyed the Seattle/Eagles game. I've watched a bit of this Eagles offence under Chip Kelly and he wasn't able to run a lot of the stuff they usually do. What I mean is get some success on a drive and then use that success to keep the Defence off-balance via quick snaps, not allowing subs etc........

Re: Monday Morning Joe
Players may not appreciate Wally's business sense but as a fan I appreciate his methodical ways and what I see is his desire to put the good of the team ahead of personal loyalty to long-serving players. It was evident long ago that Korey Banks would not be back with the Lions in 2014 and that Dant...

Re: Cortez release by Riders
Wally talked about how he seems to feel he's behind the times in dealing with the players of today. I doubt a guy like Cortez would have the types of skills that Buono thinks todays player needs. Cortez would be more used to the ideas/concepts that have served Wally well.... Just my

Re: Trestman Likely Safe in Chicago
Good, IMO. I would have loved to see him get a gig like the Lions one but I still think he deserves some more time too. The Bears defense really tanked, IMO, and a large part of that was in part due to the early boot to the curb of longtime legend Brian Urlacher. Getting rid of long time vets who we...
