Re: Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

Lefty Hendrickon was a TE, not huge by TE standards, but another big BC guy who had a decent CFL career. Lefty wasn't huge by today's standards but he wasn't small by early 70s standards, probably average. Lefty listed at 6'1" 216. Herman "Ham Hands" Harrison went 6'3" 210. Colt...

Re: Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

Another BC guy to add to this list: Brock Aynsley (listed at 6-2, 190) who came to the CFL via Washington St. and played his first few seasons with his home Province Lions; had his best CFL season with the Als in 77 - with 39 catches & 739 yards, in a GC win season; I recall him as a speedy deep...

Re: Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

Jay Christensen was a big (6 ft. 4, 215 lbs.) receiver from Kelowna who played for the Okanagan Sun before launching a 10-year CFL career with Calgary, B.C., Edmonton and Ottawa. His best season was with the Lions in 1990, when he had 62 catches for 1,036 yards and 8 TDs. He was inducted last year ...

Re: Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

Perhaps the best B.C.-born receiver was Paris Jackson (6 ft. 3, 215 lbs.) from Carson Graham in North Vancouver and the University of Utah, who ranks in the Top 10 B.C. Lions receivers of any nationality with 420 catches for 5,757 yards in 11 seasons before finishing his career in Ottawa and Edmont...

Re: Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

I forgot about one guy that helped lead me to start the topic - Rysen John - a 6-7 (!) receiver who got drafted by the Stamps out of SFU after a break-out big season there, and also had a TC look with the NY Jets. Him & Claypool in one draft class = 2 giant BC targets. I knew Danielsen had playe...

Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

Congrats to NFL rookie Chase Claypool and his recent 4 TD game (the Canadian Al Bundy  ) for the Steelers; Abbotsford native who got to play at Notre Dame seems on the way to a star NFL resume - and what a target/athlete at 6-4 , 238 with a 4.42 forty and 40" vertical. Might become top of...

Re: Lions' offseason depth chart

Adam Konar's stats line when he played a lot of D for the Esks in 2017(Statscrew says only 12 games played - not sure how many starts ?); 59 defensive tackles, 2 INTs, 2 FR, 1 FF and 1 sack - in 12 games (?) All 12 were starts. The issue with Konar is that was his healthiest season in Edmonton. He ...

Re: Lions' offseason depth chart

Herdman and Konar were not starters on a weak linebacking corps last year. They won’t start this year but can be key contributors on special teams. Williams and Guzylak-Messam will be the two national starters on defence. The only question is whether IGM starts at weakside linebacker or safety. we'...

Re: Lions' offseason depth chart

7 only NIs need apply for starter jobs will likely be (IMO) - 3 interior O-linemen + 2 receivers; then 2 needed on D - Herdman at MLB with Konar at OLB (with draft pick Williams maybe able to take either job); or maybe one LB with a Canadian at safety (should have drafted a good prospect there to co...

Re: Pandemic Power Rankings

1 - Ticats - 2 good QBs and talent all over the roster 2 - Als - on the verge of becoming a top CFL team with Vernon Adams at QB 3 - Bombers - GC Champs ; Collaros might become a top CFL QB again; Harris best RB in the league 4 - Stamps - Huff finds a way year after year 5 - Riders - good young QB +...

Re: 2020 CFL draft

Interestin' read there by Abbott. Not sure I'd agree on everything though. Might be nice if Williams is an instant upgrade over Konar & Herdman-Reed, who IMO have both shown serious LB talent in CFL game action, but I wouldn't count on it right away. IF playing LB in the pros was all about 40 ti...

Re: Passaglia vs Cameron

Passaglia was a great dual kicker; Cameron only a punter; and even comparing them as punters, Bob was very good and excelled at kicking into the wind; however, Lui is one of only 2 CFL punters to ever average 50+ yards on a season !

Re: 2020 CFL draft

Impressed by how Mr. Ed & co. addressed numerous position groups AND areas of need in this draft. A blue chip LB prospect who could start soon; a QB who could compete for #2 right away; a decent O-line prospect in Guevremont; a good receiver prospect (Hastings) to join a group that might allow t...

Re: 2020 CFL draft

Williams joins Herdman-Reed & Konar at LB for the Lions - some serious talent IMO and they could easily think of starting NIs at both MLB & Will (Williams maybe pushes to start right away but could back-up the 2 more experienced guys at both spots). Rourke is a serious QB talent IMO - outsta...
