Re: 2021 CFL free agency

For the 7 NIs only need apply? = 3 interior O-linemen + 2 receivers (Durant & Johnson), and then they would need 2 on D = Will & MLB, or one LB and a safety ? Doesn't seem like a NI would get a shot to start on the D-Line ? Or could they go 3 NI starting receivers again for 6 on O (i doubt ...

Re: PAID MY DUES TIME AFTER TIME - LEOS NEW 2021 OFFENCE

WOW Blitz - lots of interesting analysis, thoughts and opinions there = thanks for that ! I for one would love to see wayyyyyyy more diversity in CFL offence - even by just one team, even just for the sake of some interest. Been saddened by same old CFL offences of the past couple of decades (at lea...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

As far as Jordan Williams starting right away at MLB - maybe; outstanding athlete but a lot to learn at the pro level, plus the Canadian game; Herdman might be a better choice with his experience now, plus demonstrated nose for the ball; but that's what real TC competition should prove; Herdman at ...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

Not a shocker there David. If Fickens is healthy there's no reason to keep an extra kicker around for injury insurance for what would amount the final 2 games given Castillo wouldn't dress this week. I feel bad for Castillo. He performed well in the first 3 games he suited up for. The last 3 were a...

Re: why is CFL interest so tepid in toronto?

What I am suggesting is that it might be nice to see a CFL team - just one even - put a real heavy emphasis on Canadian football people to form the majority of their football decision making team - GM, director of personnel, HC and the coaching staff. Winnipeg is as close to what you are describing...

Re: why is CFL interest so tepid in toronto?

So what you are suggesting then is some team should have the kahunas to staff their clubs top to bottom with FOPS staff totally cleansed of any association with the CFL or any other pro system prior to taking their jobs. Personally I don't want my team going anywhere near hiring a HC directly from ...

Re: why is CFL interest so tepid in toronto?

I went through the 9 team websites I found that 2/3 of the people holding GM and other Football Ops are Canadians. There's 10 guys holding either Director of Player Personnel or Director of Football Ops positions. All are Canadian. In Winnipeg McManus is the only non-Canadian in their FOPS org char...

Re: why is CFL interest so tepid in toronto?

the league needs to fix toronto, BC and montreal....... wondering if MLSE might want some sort of beach-head in BC, montreal...... will the league be more canadian after a government bailout? The league is moving towards being less Canadian and should think about that aspect as well imo. Not only w...

2021 CFL draft

Order announced. Lions first 3 picks are #s 4, 15 & 21 Some real good prospects in the early rounds IMO, but the depth might be challenged if a number of U Sports players who lost this season choose to defer till next draft ? Not sure who/where the Lions will be looking at with the #4. Maybe an ...

Re: Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

Matt Clark’s card shows him playing at 180 which sounds right to me. There was also a Matt Clarke on the team, who was the long snapper as I recall. His weight may have been transposed with Clark’s. Elgaard would consider himself a Vancouver guy. As mentioned he excelled in rugby at Magee and for t...

Re: Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

Claypool scores another 2 TDs for the undefeated Steelers; on his way to an NFL 1000 yard receiving season, as a rookie = just outstanding.

Re: Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

Yeah, Pankratz was pretty light. 180 lbs... I weighed that when I was 16. Yeah, but ... a lot of the all-time great receivers (CFL & NFL) have been guys in that range (under 6' or well under 200 pounds) - think of Cahoon or Terry Vaughn or Darren Flutie - quick, shifty guys; Uncle Milt & Ge...

Re: Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

And John Pankratz - Van guy / Simon Fraser - played 8 seasons for the Lions and put up close to 5000 career CFL yards; but listed at 5-10, 180 (? - don't remember him as that small ?), so him and Pathon = too much of a shrimp for the big army ?
