Re: Who are your Top 5 Despicable B.C. Lions Players?

I disagree about the Pez. My recollection is that the Lions were broke and ownerless and the Premier of B.C. asked Pezim to take over the ownership and debts. It was Pezim's wining and dining Flutie that was a factor in Flutie agreeing to come to Canada to play. When Flutie became a FA, one could ar...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

The other day Dr. Henry used the PNE as an example of an event that will be cancelled. From that I concluded that the CFL season is also cancelled, although there is nothing to be gained by announcing it now. My guess is that the CFL season and likely other sports as well will be postponed until a v...

Re: LaPolice picks best all-time CFL minds (all former Lions)

For most of Wally's time in B.C. he was a HC/GM. It is the GM part of the job where he excelled: evaluating and signing players, managing the SMS and the draft. He relied heavily on his assistants for the coaching part but I often thought the personnel assembled was better than what results on the f...

Re: LaPolice picks best all-time CFL minds (all former Lions)

Don Mathews for defense. Mathews would be my second choice. Ralph Sazio, of the then dominate on defense1960s TiCats would be my first choice. He was disguising defenses way ahead of his time. If you were a D player and in practice were 1 foot off your mark of where you should be lining up, a serio...

Don't you mean that you do NOT accept isolation as an excuse for domestic violence?

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

We have to be happy with how it's working its way thru British Columbia if the key stats that the experts and researchers focus on are meaningful. They're saying hospitalization rates, ICU patients and deaths are more important than the actual number of cases. We're extremely lucky that our kid's s...

Re: Doug Flutie with bclions.com!

Flutie mentioned a regret that he didn't get to play for one team for all that long. What I remember is that it didn't what team or what league, if Doug Flutie was playing, then that was the most exciting, enjoyable, amazing Game of the Week.

Re: Training camp update from City of Kamloops

I love attending camp in Kamloops and was hoping to take in every session this year after recently moving to the city. The facilities are by far the best of any I've seen over the past 50-plus years, including UBC, Langley, Abbotsford and Chilliwack. No matter what happens this year, I hope the clu...

Re: BC Lions Free Agents Signings & Signings around the CFL

It might be fine for someone like Sergio Castillo to play in both leagues (and I suspect he will be coming back to BC after the XFL season concludes). But I have a hard time believing a physically demanding position such as middle linebacker for 31-year old Korey Toomer could be sustainable. This w...

Re: Day 1 of the new XFL today (saturday)

Now, let me give you one thing the XFL does that I am impressed with, that I wish the CFL would do in some form or fashion. https://www.xfl.com/en-US/teams/team9/team-9-articles/team-9-dallas This is a great idea. Rather than individual team practice squads, there's a single leaguewide practice squ...

Re: BC Lions Free Agents Signings & Signings around the CFL

it seems the Bombers have serious interest in a deal and possibly a way to make it affordable (according to this Dunk report anyhow). Gotta give credit to the guy that got the one reducing tax paid on bonus payments for foreign workers to 15% pushed through the government regulations. Guessing the ...

Re: Toomer Rumour

Toomer was on our D-line last year and played very well. I don't know if he would bump back to MLB, but if he did then I could see Haynes moving to the WILL and all of a sudden our LB's look quite strong. Both Toomer and Haynes with a training camp under their belt and a greater understanding of th...
