Re: Training camp 2025
With B.C. Fan's excellent reporting, I feel like I get more out of his reports than if I was actually there watching in person. Keep the reports coming B.C. Fan.

Re: Alexander Hollins released
I'm glad to see Hollins playing somewhere, too bad it is Edmonton.
I don't recall the details, just that the Lions mishandled the situation. I hope they learned something from it.

Re: Canadians in NFL Draft
If Kurtis Rourke can make the 49ers roster, then both Rourkes will be on the west coast. Kinda nice for the parents, and the grandparents in Victoria.

Does the James Butler signing represent an increase vs what Stanback made in 2024?

Re: BC loses 1st & 2nd round picks for exceeding cap by $350,000
Two picks and a $350k fine to lose in the first round of the playoffs. Awesome. Worth every penny. Glad we're bad at drafting anyway.
On the flipside if they didn't do what they did they'd have the 2 picks, no Rourke and no Betts for at least the next seasons and get no further in the ...

Re: Should the Nervy Ed Hervey be punished?
^^^I agree. Did we really need Hervey to show us once again that he is a loose cannon loud mouth? A least he didn't break any CFL rules this time.B.C.FAN wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 4:14 pm It was a needlessly provocative comment that won’t help Hervey’s reputation with players, but nothing worthy of league discipline.

Re: BC loses 1st & 2nd round picks for exceeding cap by $350,000
It amounts to trading a 1st, 2nd AND $643,667 for Rourke and Betts, not to mention their salaries for 2024.
If it were a "trade" and the above was all it cost for 2 Canadians who have previously been the best player in the entire league at their positions, then I would declare Lions have won ...

If Rourke returns to form and the Lions start winning with entertaining football, then increased numbers of fans in the stands will cover the fine rather quickly.

Re: List of Good and Bad BC Lions Free Agent Signings of Superstars
Duron Carter had great potential but failed to realize his full potential due to his immaturity, something I believe he inherited from his father, NFLer Chris Carter.

Except you have to give Pezim credit for literally wining and dining Doug Flutie and being the one to convince Flutie to come to the CFL.Hambone wrote: Fri Mar 14, 2025 9:55 pm I think you have to toss anything that happened under Pezim's ownership out the window in this discussion.

Re: 2025 CFL schedule
The ex-game in Langford sold out in a matter of minutes. I wonder how many Lions season ticket holders decided to keep their tickets and how many declined.

Re: Bonus draft picks.
I'm not going to lose any sleep over the Lions losing one or two draft picks as they already have a good group of National players. And adding Rourke and Betts mid season was a must do, regardless of draft pick consequences.

Re: Shawn Lemon Appeals His Gambling Suspension
I have no sympathy for Lemon. In a fashion players gambling on games within their own league is just like knowingly taking PEDs. Do it and you might get away with it. Get caught and you pay the price. That in itself, like gambling, is an excercise in weighing the odds and deciding whether or not ...

Re: Shawn Lemon Appeals His Gambling Suspension
I don’t see a problem with this. Lemon gets the same 2-game suspension as Teuhema or any other player who violates the CFL drug policy. It’s moot anyway, since he’s not likely to be reinstated from his gambling suspension.
I agree. 2 suspensions for 2 different CFL policy violations seems fair ...

Nice to see Mackie get this opportunity. I am now a lot less disappointed with his Lions retirement.
