Re: If there were a change at OC....

Changing the OC for the sake of making a change is stupid. It takes a long time to implement a new scheme and terminology - it would be like going back to camp. It would actually cause things to get worse, believe it or not. Changes like that needs to be made in the clear light of day, in the off se...

Re: QB Mike Reilly's Resume - Mike Beamish

Spurgeon Wynn could throw a ball through a brick wall. Kurt Warner couldn't. Ryan Leaf and Jamarcus Russell had cannons, Joe Montana and Drew Brees don't. The list goes on and on...

Re: Riders 37 - Lions 18 Post Game Stats & Comments

The Lions were running with the smallest splits on the offensive line that I have seen in pro football in a long time. Their splits were maybe a foot and a half, whereas you see most pro teams these days running with three foot splits. If you watch the U.S. college teams who run the spread offense, ...

Re: Lions add non-import pair; release Zac Champion

The Argos probably believe that BC will end up releasing Jackson, thus allowing them to pick him up without giving an asset in return.

Re: Eskimos Release Lumsden - Canwest News

I remember hearing Rich Stubler weighing in on this issue a while back when he was coaching the Argos. Your running back has to be reliable - period, full stop. Having a guy who is constantly nicked up and not at 100% just kills your offense. It also kills your budget to be paying a guy who is on IR...

Re: CFL Draft - Review of the Lions' Picks

Great potential for down the road, but the reality is that neither of our top two picks will actually be in camp in a month. That is a concern. We all know about Atogwe, but I also recall Brett Romberg, another guy we spent a pick on who never did come to the CFL. Three different teams have now held...

Re: Bombers release Shabazz - would the Lions be interested?

This is indeed a head scratcher. Shabazz was one of the best players on a weak Bomber roster. This is what happens when you hire a GM like Joe Mack who has been out of the CFL since the 80s. He knows football administration, but his current knowledge of CFL personnel is weak to non-existent. Hell ye...

Re: The SMS 4 years later....has it been good for the CFL?

I can tell you that the lack of enforcement on the old salary cap played a big role in the demise of the Ottawa Renegades. The first ownership group was sold the franchise on the basis that there was a real salary cap in place. Of course, in the early 2000s, there really wasn't - the cap was flouted...

Re: Bombers expected to offer contract to Buck within 48 hrs

I love Pierce's determination and grit, but man do I ever worry about his concussion history. Count me as one of those who believes he should actively consider retirement. I know that upsets competitive athletes - Matt Dunigan used to get quite angry and defensive about the "injury prone" ...

Re: Barrin Simpson signs in Saskatchewan

God bless Barrin, but at age 33 he is not the answer as an every down MLB. Right after the NFL draft, we need to jump on some of the undrafted inside linebackers, and make this team younger and quicker.

Re: Jarious Jackson to the Argos???

I'm fine with this. JJ will be 33 this year, and he is who he is - a guy with a big arm, but limited upside. Printers is clearly the starter, and there is no way the club is going to want to pay starter type money to Jackson to carry a clipboard. That backup spot should be reserved for developing a ...

Re: Argo's New HC is.....

...and the CFL Recyclotron strikes again. I guess the Argos didn't really have a choice. The two "hot assistant" candidates, Chris Jones of Calgary and Scott Milanovich of Montreal, both turned them down, so they had to seek out the one guy whom they knew wouldn't say no. It was like last ...

Re: Lions appoint Chapdelaine offensive coordinator; add one

Don't understand why they couldn't have called him OC when he WAS the OC for '08 and '09? Puzzling, that. I would venture a guess that Edmonton was paying some of JC's salary those years, and probably wrote into his settlement that he couldn't be an official OC. :2cents: This is an excellent observ...

Re: Lions appoint Chapdelaine offensive coordinator; add one

Well, Jiminez was given an apple and a road map, and Dorazio is still there, so that tells you everything you need to know. Dorazio is a technician and a teacher of fundamentals first and foremost, so I don't think that giving up co-ordinating duties wouldn't faze him much. I will always maintain th...
