I really wish the league would stop trotting out that "Committed to Ottawa" party line BS. The fans there need and deserve more than that. If the league has no intention of ever bringing football back to our nation's capital, then they should be up front and say so. _________________ Pers...

In a home game against the Shreveport Pirates in August 1994, the Lions trampled over their opponent on their way to setting a team record for the greatest margin of victory at 52 points in their 67-15 win. The only thing I remember about this one is the wild interception and subsequent 6-8 lateral...

Quote: 7. Robert Drummonds' 50 yard Td scamper in the 2000 Grey Cup on 3rd and one, late in the game. That was a 44-yard TD run 55-seconds into the fourth quarter, so it wasn't that late in the game as it was early in the fourth quarter. The two teams combined to score an additional three touchdown...

While McManus to Flutie is sure to win, a couple others come to mind. In no particular order: 1. Charles "Flash" Gordon's goalline interception against Edmonton in the '94 Western semifinal that prevented elimination and sparked a miracle run to the Cup. 2.Gordon's subsequent INT and TD th...

Funny for me to see this thread on a day when a miracle happened. Impark actually tore up my ticket. Thing is, I was totally in the right. The damn machine stole my money and when I went to get more, I returned 5 minutes later to find a frickin' ticket on the dash. So I called thinking there wasn't ...

What worries me a bit is the Lions losing their Canadian starters, Thelwell, McKay, now Singh, and rumours that Clermont might be gone next year. Our Canadian starters used to be our strength, now we will have to replace these great players. Add Chris Wilson as another who will be gone from trainin...

Guess Wally felt he would be unhappy and that might have a negative impact so he decided to release him rather than continue to discuss a renogiated contract.
He sounded rather upset on the radio today. He said he offered to take 50,000 pay cut to stay. Man, what a tough business sports can be.

A gutsy prediction that could equally have gone the other way with Murphy leaving for good. I guess you pass GM 400 as with this call you essentially made a good guess that in the end the player was a bit bluffing that his position was etched in stone. I kind of thought that both parties had positi...

I don't think Nonis is gonna move Bieksa. Unless he cuts Krajicek or Fitz loose, and you count on Edler and/or Tremblay, and based on cap number, Sopel might be the loser on the d-line. Bourdon fits in somewhere too I think. With the team having committed so much to their core 10 guys, they'll have...

but had some difficulty with the Winnipeg Jets in the first round before advancing in six games. But in the second round, the Los Angeles Kings gave the Canucks more trouble and managed to upset them in six games. Yah, it was a disappointing ending that year. The Canucks lost game 5 against L.A. at...

The record means nothing to me without the Stanley Cup
I think we will probably look back fondly at the record as long as they win a round or two in the playoffs. Only 1 team can win it all so the record may be all we end up having to cling to this season.

Hate to say I told you so. But here is my script vs. the real quotes. Wally-"We are thrilled to have Rob back. He is one of the best lineman in the league and a tough negotiator to boot. He sure drives a hard bargain." Murphy-"I think in the end I got what I wanted and Wally did too. ...

Gawd. Aren't we all so guilible. Murphy will sign within a week or two. It's all negotiations my friends, and negotiation tactics. Remember Bobby Singh was going to quit the team and become a full time politician? If Murphy wasn't interested in playing would he bother with local radio interviews? H...

iron clad guarantee contract.
Has this stopped the League from firing guys in the past? The B.O.G. has shown that if they are determined to make a change they're going to make it.

How Long Will the New Commish Last?

Poor track record for this league I'm afraid. 2 years seems about right.
