Re: It's Rourke's Offense Now

I'm not convinced that it is the actual RB's that are the issue as opposed to some of the intangibles. Like having a QB that massively favours the pass and has done his whole career, his having input in the choice of OC and shaping the overall philosophy of the game plan and having an Oline that ha...

Re: Update: Michael Reilly retires

Seems silly to anoint Rourke the starter so early in the game. I have no doubt he will be a great quarterback, but let's throw out the last start against the Elks as some kind of proof that he's ready to be a full-time starter. It is too small of a sample size against a weak and tired defense. Besi...

Re: Update: Michael Reilly retires

I amhapy he got outwith his health. He has taken Too many hits with his toughguy personna. Theions can now affotdtobuild a stronger team with more cap room. A good move for all concerned. I wonder what that cap room is going to be though? You have to expect Rourke gets a starters bump and we have t...

Re: It's Rourke's Offense Now

So we've turned the page from Reilly to Rourke and I think it's important we talk about what it's going to take to make him successful. The challenge, as I see it, is not that Rourke isn't "ready", it's that his skill set as a QB doesn't fit Campbell's offensive philosophy. This is easy t...

Re: Will Reilly Retire?

Just to put the QB salary thing into perspective Vernon Adams just extended with Montreal thru the 2023 season. Adams is not yet as proven as Reilly but nonetheless will earn $445K in 2022 with $190K coming up front in form of a signing bonus. Whether the Lions renegotiate Reilly downwards or not f...

Re: Will Reilly Retire?

According to Global, Reilly will earn $750,000 next season. "will" in air quotes I would say he is "currently under contract to earn $750k next season." I give it 5% chance that sticks as the Lions probably walk instead with the amount of issues with the team. Reilly is not putt...

Re: Elks at BC Nov 19

We will get a chance to see the kid get some more playing time in a meaningless game so he won’t have any pressure on his shoulders. I expect him to play much better than his first start where the pressure of a season opener was on him.

Re: Will Reilly Retire?

I dont think Reilly should take the blame for lousy blocking, lousy D, lousy kicking, etc. Reilly has mostly done his part. Two losses directly because of faulty kicking. Make that 6 and 7. Maybe he hasnt been his best the last couple of seasons, but if the rest of the team and coaching had been up...

Re: Will Next Season be any Different?

Reilly has a good relationship with Jordan Myskmic and how did that turn out ? Maksymic’s RPO offence doesn’t work well without the threat of a running QB. At this stage of his career, Reilly only runs out of necessity. Bringing Rourke in for a few RPO series each week and giving Reilly a more trad...

Re: Will Next Season be any Different?

If the status quo is accepted regarding personnel, I would agree that the status quo will need to be accepted regarding the results on the field. Abject failure all round. My lone reason for holding out hope for improvement is we now have an owner. He wasn't going to do anything mid-season. But may...

Re: Calgary at BC Nov 12 2021

You don't get points for trying. I'm not putting all the blame on Reilly but when you get paid top dollar, you are expected to make miracles happen now and again. There are six other QB's (loosely speaking) who are currently going on to the playoffs who get paid less than him. Your right, one play ...

Re: Calgary at BC Nov 12 2021

Reilly is a good QB. His stats are actually quite stellar. But it just doesn't seem to be working here. His time here reminds me of Messier as a Canuck. Good player, but team as a whole is broken and, alas, neither has played a playoff game. If I was Doman, Campbell would be gone tomorrow (he is a ...

Re: Calgary at BC Nov 12 2021

When your short, you need every inch. He tucked it and came up short might just as well fumble it. At least you have a chance of your guy falling on it. And some how a player should know that while running with it? How does he extend with his shoulder down into a defender? Reaching it out would los...

Re: Calgary at BC Nov 12 2021

9-20 over the last 2 seasons. That's pretty good. I will say it until I am blue in the face, this team will not have a winning season while they are as bad as they are in the trenches. Zero pressure on defense and zero running game all season. Sorry 9-24. No D or O line for years now. I feel bad fo...

Re: Calgary at BC Nov 12 2021

Reilly 340 yards on 30/37 (81.1%). Any one that tries to blame him for this loss is an idiot. When was the last time the league’s leading passer missed the playoffs? It’s about to happen. Lions defence too pourous tonight as usual but at least a competitive game Probably the last time the leading p...
