Re: 10th team in Halifax - Braleys ulterior motives
For most Vancouver Islanders it’s a 4 hour trip (usually with an overnight stay in Vancouver) to see a Lions game ... and another 4 hour trip home. Many do it, but precious few do it as Season Ticket holders. When getting to and from the stadium costs an extra $300 per game, it is unlikely that ...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread
Braley is too cheap to invest the money needed to properly ‘fix’ this organization. He is not a local and does not care about ‘our team’. As long as he stays as the owner we will only attract people (coaches, GMs, etc) who under-value themselves ... not a winning formula. I suspect he’ll offer Wally ...

Re: Marco Iannuzzi to retire at the end of this season
Marco and Geroy are great ‘faces’ for the organization, but Presidents and GMs are not poster boys. They’re behind the scenes grinders, they’re deal makers and diplomats. They’re board room bears and organizational architects. Both Marco and Geroy would be great in public relations, community ...

Re: Marco Iannuzzi to retire at the end of this season
Marco has proven that he is worth investing in, on and off the field, but like ‘maxlion’ pointed out, that doesn’t mean you give him the key to the kingdom before finding out how he drives. A Harvard education is impressive and even without all of his work on the field and in the community, that ...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread
My guess as to why he left the Stamps as soon as his contract was up was to be close to his family after Bob’s passing. He stayed in Calgary and honoured his contract, they made him President, but he came back to BC, where all of his family live, at his first chance after Bob passed. I’ve never ...

Re: Marco Iannuzzi to retire at the end of this season
Marco is a great player and he must be smart if he got into Harvard, so he would make a better President of the US than the Great Trumpkin, but the Lions need a President who has front office experience, understands the game, knows how to make the big deals and can rally the community and it’s ...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread
I like Sir Purrcival’s suggestion of Scott ‘Son of Bob’ Ackles for GM. The organization has been at it’s best with an Ackles at the helm. In the late 80s, when the NFL stole Bob from us, he started mentoring Scott and they both got noticed, working in a league where that’s hard to do. Enter the XFL ...
