Re: 2021 CFL free agency
This is a tough one as I always liked Rutley. I appreciated his tough, bruising running style and ability to run back kicks just like Monroe Eley did for us years ago. I think we're fairly set at the RB position. We have Shaq Cooper and young Reggie Corbin from Illinois whose tape looks impressive ...

Re: 2021 CFL draft
grunching... good discussion. i don't think there's any way that Hubbard or Holland ever step foot in the CFL...... i am generally in favor though of drafting marginal NFL prospects. did Rysen John stick with the Giants? i think he did, but not sure. if we go heavy on canadians on defense, and we h...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency
Be interestin' to see if Foucault ends up starting for the Als? They did lose starting OG Trey Rutherford to retirement recently; but there should be good competition with former starter Phil Gagnon brought back, plus former Laval all-star huge OG Sam Thomassin who they drafted. Moo-cha-cha really l...

Re: Solly to retire from CFL - will continue to reside in Vancouver
I have three problems with "Total career tackles". Length of career can skew the numbers as can tackles from the chase position, especially from the MLB position. And if your offense is poor or does a lot of 2 and out, then your D gets on the field more, helping a LB build tackle stats. I...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency
Mildly worried about our depth now with both Foucault and Boyko gone (say what you about their contracts relative to their play, but that's quite a lot of experience we're losing). I imagine the starting 5 L-R will be: J-Fig, Steward, Godber, Chungh, and Mathews. We still have Knevel who can play g...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency
Didn't quite register on the Richter Scale like SolE. But on the bright side as a firefighter he stands to get a nice raise over being a backup CFL LB/ special teamer. What's firefighter wage out there nowdays? 80K annual range ? Vs. CFL minimum wage (? - 50K range? ) - for 6 months work basically....

Re: Greatest Hockey Game Ever
Summit Series 72 - game 8 (and game one shocker ! - though not a great game for Canada - most shocking sport event i ever witnessed)
New Year's Eve - Habs vs. Red Army (Habs out-shot them by a wide margin, but the Ruskies almost won the game late)

Re: 2021 CFL free agency
Backup linebacker and special teamer Mitch Barnett, who didn't re-sign with the Lions, has officially retired to become a firefighter. Re: 2021 CFL free agency
Campbell (& Desjardins) brought in and handed playing time to, a whole slew of young import D-linemen the past couple of seasons in Ottawa; not many panned out good to even decent IMO - Tavai was amongst the best of them, but he is a DE. Different scouts though. We have Ryan Rigmaiden and his l...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency
Team are going to run 150yds a game on us, given the NTs that are left. I think you're assuming that there are zero US FA recruits at the interior of the line which I don't believe is the case. I am hearing the club is high on a couple of DTs (Kamalu, Neal) with NFL experience. Would I feel better ...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency
this is complete thinking out loud, but Seahawks (and Jets before that) did incredibly well blitzing Jamal Adams from safety spot (not sure if JA is strong or free safety. I'd think strong safety). I would think many more teams will look to do this, although I know that JA is a unique talent. wonde...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency
One of the biggest unsigned free agents appears to be former Rider weakside linebacker Cameron Judge, who has been linked to the Lions and others. I don’t see him coming to B.C. unless he can play middle linebacker. The Lions have already pencilled in Bo Lokombo at WILL and have 2020 first overall ...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency
The Riders have signed twins Jordan and Justin Herdman-Reed. https://3downnation.com/2021/02/09/riders-sign-canadian-linebacker-twins-jordan-and-justin-herdman-reed/ I don't know if that was deliberate on the Herdman-Reed bros or just came out that way but I did wonder if their agent(s) were lookin...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency
Farhan Lalji has tweeted that Chris Rainey has be re-signed by the Lions. I was beginning to wonder if any of the veteran tailbacks would be back with us, though he's likely primarily back for kick-returner duty. Yeah, but Rainey is quite capable at tailback too IMO; even as a change of pace platoo...
