Re: 2011 draft.
He appears to use the Lions for self promotion purposes. Keeps his name out there not for his efforts on the field, but for publicity of his business interests. The Lions are not great in developing Canadian receivers. Why keep them if they are never going to play as receivers and actually get ...

Antolin and Chin are on the practice roster, not cut at all.

Re: Ti-Cats 52 - Lions 22 Post Game Stats and Comments
Having viewed much of the Lions training camp it was obvious that some positions were not open to competition. It was like an old boys club. There were players who without question were going to keep their positions because they had earned them. There were others, some new who had not earned them ...

Re: Preseason game June 19 at Thunderbird Stadium
what about sfu?
I don't know the SFU venue. I wonder if it could meet the necessary field dimensions for a CFL game?
The UVIC venue, although an interesting consideration, is not a football venue. It was renovated for the 1994 Commonwealth Games and has been used for soccer and track and field ...

Re: Preseason game June 19 at Thunderbird Stadium
I have travelled to the vast majority of football parks in the province.
The Victoria venues would not be suitable. Royal Athletic Park is simply awful and at Bear Mountain Stadium in Langford the field is much too tight to the sideline and endzone fences. The stands are too close and the end ...

Re: Lions D Line for 2015
One thing that bothers me is that people (press and others) ignore Steven Doege when talking about the DL. I've seen this time after time. It's like he doesn't exist on the roster.
I am cheering for Doege. I love that we are able to sign territorial exemptions, and all things being equal I would ...

One thing that bothers me is that people (press and others) ignore Steven Doege when talking about the DL. I've seen this time after time. It's like he doesn't exist on the roster. Is it because he is an ex-CJFL junior player and not a over-hyped and pampered CIS or other drafted player? I tend to ...

Re: Lions make trade with TiCats
There's a name on the Lions roster that may be getting overlooked as a reason for Haidara being dealt; Whitman Tomusiak. Tomusiak has looked pretty darned good in training camp the last couple of years and I suspect has finished his CJFL tenure. I think the Lions remain very high on him but can no ...

Re: Lions make trade with TiCats
If you're giving Ianuzzi a raise and trading Haidara, you're doing it wrong.
Something was apparently in the wind when Haidera, Adekolu, Antwi, and Louchard (all offensive players and from the East), did not attend (were not invited) to the April mini-camp. Maybe we will learn more over time.

Re: Offensive mini-camp report
Offensive players missing from OTA for whatever reason: Haidera, Adekulo, Tuinei, Lochard, Antwi, Benson. Tuinei is also off the roster as Leonard has replaced his number #82. No word that he has been let go. All OL roster players appear to be present. Great to see Steve Schott back!

Re: Ernest Jackson Gone...#*+%!#
Of course, having great speed doesn't mean that one is going to have the hands to go with it. A classic example is Frank Budd, the US Olympic sprinter who played for Calgary in the 60's. He simply could not catch a ball. Another example is the sprinter from New Zealand I believe, who joined the ...

Re: Ernest Jackson Gone...#*+%!#
Mannie is a excellent receiver with the ability to go up and get the ball in traffic, having legitimate 4.5 speed. He hasn't been thrown to that much, being injured and the couple of wasted years in the NFL, which hindered his development a bit. I think he more effective as the outside sprinter to ...

Re: Free Agent Wish List
I will be very disappointed if we lose Ernest Jackson. I thought he was spectacular at times last season, and really coming into his own. I had heard earlier that he was interested in giving the NFL a shot. We saw from Chris Matthews' performance in the Super Bowl that CFLers can ball down there ...
