Re: Final Roster
After watching 12 days of Lions Training Camp and being at both pre-season games in Edmonton and Vancouver I can tell you that the Lions have the best non-import receiving group in the League. I knew that the Lions would not be cutting any more receivers prior to the Calgary game (note: the Lions on...

Re: A Look at Receivers
Based on your observation, who would you consider to be the front runners for the starting position ? It's been a gruelling 2 weeks for the receivers, more so than any other position at this year's camp. A short roster of receivers has led to more work, less rotation, and more injuries. Today, to a...

Re: A Look at Receivers
Thanks WestCoastJoe. The Lions Roster listing for Manny's BD is different from my daily training camp brochure and chart. The Lions Roster listing shows Manny's BD to be currently at 26 yrs. 9 mo. Just a little bit older than I previously reported!

Re: A Look at Receivers
I have observed most (not quite all) Lions Training Camp sessions so far this year in Kamloops and can provide an update on the receivers at this time. Currently, apparently only 8 healthy receivers remain due to early cuts and injuries. Of the 12 remaining receivers on the roster Arceneaux is injur...

Re: CFL/CFLPA Labour Negotiations
I don't want to get into a discussion so much what the HC coaches make compared to the players. The coaches should be paid well, no doubt, but even in Hufnagel's case, in the CFL, $700,000 is excessive and way over the top. His salary is taken of of some CFL pool of funds. I would think he would be ...

Re: CFL/CFLPA Labour Negotiations
So DanoT, how much do you think John Hufnagel gets paid, for example. $45,000; $60,000; or how about the CFL player average $82,000. Just wondering. HUfnagel's a hard-working and good coach (as all the coaches are), but I think the players should be paid more - they're the athletes, we watch them. I...

Re: CFL/CFLPA Labour Negotiations
A major problem in our society is that during the last 2 decades or so the tables have been turned such that executives, coaches and so forth are getting the big bucks and the players who are actually performing and have the athletic skill are being paid less and receiving mediocre care and benefits...

Re: Training Camp 2014, Kamloops
For the Lions I think the breakdown is going to be something like this: 68 + 7 draft picks (Player, Lochard, Chin, Menard, Fox, Roper, Bourassa) + 2 additional non-counters (likely Adekolu and Tomusiak, maybe Shott), + draft previous year (Steward) + 3 juniors (Daley, Lund, Yachison). Doege, Antwi, ...

Re: Training Camp 2014, Kamloops
Training Camp roster regulations: As defined in the CFL By-laws, modified by the Section 14.02 of the CBA, teams are limited to 75 players under contract during the off-season. Training camp roster sizes are set at 68 players plus any non-counting players (current year's draft picks, two additional ...

Re: Lokombo on Team1040 momentarily
Correct me if I am wrong, but don't the Lions already have a player like Lokombo on the roster named Rolly Lumbala. Remember now, Lokombo has never played a down of Canadian football having come out of the BC high school system (American) and then going to the States. I wish the young man well, but ...

Re: CFL Draft May 13, 2014, TSN 4:00 pm PDT Rd 1
Regarding Lions receivers, I expect that the Lions will have at least 8 non-import receivers at training camp to complement the 6 non-imort receivers already listed on the roster. I predict the Lions to draft Tore Corrado from SFU, a local high school product who performed very well in the CFL-CIS c...

Re: More Stuff from Twitter.....
Far too much hype on Danny Watkins I'm afraid. In my opinion, it is dubious that he would have made the team anyway. I guess I have this thing about over-hyped players. I personally like the guys who quietly and without much fanfare make the team and excel. By the way, some of the current potential ...

Re: CFL Combine (March 17 19 20 21-23) and Draft (May 13, 20
One player who the scouts surprisingly passed up at the Edmonton Regional is Andrew Smith. Smith had the best Vertical (41.5 inches) by a country mile over other participants and the most bench presses (15) of any of the receivers. Smith had great years with both the VI Raiders and the U of Manitoba...

Re: CFL Combine (March 17 19 20 21-23) and Draft (May 13, 20
Actually, the Lions have a number of other local BC players on their roster besides the ones mentioned above. These players include Steve Doege, Steve Shott, Anthony Daley and Whitman Tomusiak. Doege, Shott, and Tomusiak have signed contracts with the Lions, while Daley remains a Junior exempt playe...
