Great article about Toffoli and his wife's move to COVID lockdown Montreal. I'm sure they would have been a lot happier making a home in West Coast Hollywood North.
THANK YOU JIM!!!

Vancouver Sun/Province doing a wrap tribute to Paul Carson/1040 today. Nicely done. Giulio is on the 2nd page with "That's gotta feel good for him" quote caption. Too bad Moj's quote wasn't "A little ham (hand) job at the end". https://twitter.com/AmandaWawryk/status/136527255070...

Re: Throwback Thursday
Just took a quick look at 1971 GC on the portal. 2 hr 13 min. Very nicely cleaned up video. They spliced in the Thornton INT return https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvPG-c5nJnQ and the McQuay slip from broadcast footage , then a "the game is over" clip (without resorting to the music backed...

Re: 2020-2021 NHL Season
Watching ANA-ARI tonight: ex-Canuck (seems so long ago now) goalie Ryan Miller has a 3-0 lead for the Ducks going into the 3rd period, only to lose 4-3 in a SO. Sounds familiar... https://thehockeywriters.com/calgary-flames-markstrom-rittich-tkachuk-monahan/ Another ex-Canuck goalie Jacob Markstrom ...

Re: 2020-2021 NHL Season
I'm still watching games (on streaming) from the other three divisions. No way do I want to make do with just this artificial North division (which will probably make a quick playoff exit once it's time go up against the other teams). As for the Canucks --let this cry echo throughout the land (as it...

Re: 2020-2021 NHL Season
In keeping with the spirit of how poorly thought out most of the US side of the NHL season has been, we have the nonsense of Lake Tahoe today. Hey it gets sunny there and the ice melts. They are going to try to play the remaining 2 periods tonight at 9pm Pacific, and have moved Sunday's BOS-PHI to 4...

Re: Greatest Hockey Game Ever
Summit Series 72 - game 8 (and game one shocker ! - though not a great game for Canada - most shocking sport event i ever witnessed) Yes game one was incredible. I remember a lot about that day, I had just got home from visiting the CNE in Toronto. It looked like it was going to be a cakewalk for t...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021
Dave Naylor pours cold water over Ambrosie's assertion that the CFL "will play a full season" . Maybe Ambrosie is thinking of starting the season in September and finishing in February?

Grey Cup portal up to 1969 so far
Watching some of the content uploaded so far (up to 1969) on the Grey Cup portal. Pretty good--quite a few sources I hadn't seen before. Some of them have both pre- and post-game content. Quality is as good or better than any that had been previously available on YouTube. I noticed a 30 second Marks...

Re: Lions in the local media (REVIVED thread 6-10-20)
I'm curious about the "Comedy Format". If it's going to be like Jeff & Larry's Comedy Roundup on sat radio staff and production costs must be a tiny fraction of what it cost 1040 to put together programming. Buy some syndicated content for cheap. Pay one or two guys to assemble the co...

Re: Lions in the local media (REVIVED thread 6-10-20)
With an April 17th season start, the Whitecaps (aka the Bells) radio broadcast deal will have to be resolved faster than the Lions. I doubt Bell decided to just walk away (and be in breach of contract). They still have 1410 Bloomberg Radio to fall back on as a broadcast station, but they just canned...

Re: Lions in the local media (REVIVED thread 6-10-20)
Typical radio business way of doing business: do a format change with no advance notice or hint and no official announcement. Then carry on with the new format as if the past never existed. It's a bit difficult for something as public as a radio station to make changes to format or shutter a statio...
