Re: Cowboys-Giants

I sure can't agree with those (quite a few) who brand the NFL boring. Although a long-time CFL (Lions) fan, I like CFL games, but prefer NFL games. Although I guess you could say that, with the field size and rules, outcomes can be very exciting in the CFL, but often an inferior team ends up winning...

Re: Midseason stats - 2012 version

Pro football is all about "What have you done lately" and that goes for stats too. So the stats of the last few games are way more important than stats from 8 or 9 games ago unless trends and performance from the start of the season have remained constant. Not sure I agree with this. The ...

Re: The Offensive....Line....

All this talk of Valli's poor blocking reminded me of a term I heard years ago from one of the MNF guys (might have been Dandy Don Meredith). He would have said that Valli was good at the "look-out" block. That's the kind that you make when your opponent flies past you and you turn around ...

Re: Sol E

From what we're hearing (for example, from Lowell Ullrich), I'd now be surprised to see Sol back with the Lions any time soon. Two things appear to now be true: (a) he has another 10 days to decide, time that will allow him to exhaust all possibilities in the NFL as teams pass the first week of the ...

Re: Sol E

The first order of business, in my opinion, is getting Sol on the 46-man roster. It shouldn't be that difficult to find someone to drop from that roster to make room for Sol. I believe that, if Sol will sign with us (a big "if" here until we learn more), we absolutely have to sign him. The...

Any indication of the severity?

Newman is on the 9-game list and should be eligible to return after the first Montreal game, shouldn't he? What do we know about his progress in rehabbing his injury?

Re: Lions 20 - Bombers 17 Post Game Stats and Comments

~Eliminian contacted the Leos and will take his 10 days to determine if there are any other NFL teams who have an interest. With Bighill playing so well it will be hard to find a place for Eliminian. Stubler could go with a 3-4 and play both Bighill and Eliminian as two interior linebackers but it ...

Re: Lions 20 - Bombers 17 Post Game Stats and Comments

I too found the game very unsettling and frustrating at many points. However, I think we need a little perspective on Lulay's play last night. He certainly wasn't at his best and at times looked bad, but, when the game was on the line, he came through like a MOP QB. I'm a little surprised at the pos...

Re: Lions Just Keep Rolling

Were there any Lion injuries yesterday? Did Akeem Foster return to action? One thing that really ticks me off is that the blackout extends to us in the Gulf Islands, so couldn't see it yesterday, but did listen to the radio broadcast.

Re: Mitchell 2-gamed suspended for dirty play

So, do we know whether this kicks in for the upcoming game with Saskatchewan or will be put off to the two games after that?

Also, what do we all think will be the D-line re-jig while he's out? Surely not just Jabar Westerman.

Solomon Elimimian

Does anyone know how Solomon Elamimian is doing with the Vikings? He's a great player, but I thought a little small for an NFL linebacker. Any chance we might get him back around Labour Day?

Re: Why did so many Lions fans give Roy Dewald a hard time?

Frankly, I don't remember the feeling towards him in his day, but he has certainly gained popularity in the ensuing years and now seems to be remembered fondly by a lot of Lions fans as one of our very-best QBs.
