Re: The Lions bring in 4th QB Casey Therriault - Mike Beamis
Can anyone (practice regulars?) fill us in on how Thomas DeMarco has looked running scout team this year? Haven't heard anything about him since training camp. DH  There seems to be lots of press about how poor little Terriault managed to overcome adversity to become a star football player. B...

Re: Jerome Messam...
It's just a damn shame when you see a player with real potential miss his opportunity for a stellar football career because of character issues. (I sure hope we aren't seeing this with Khalif Mitchell.) Messam, with his head right, could be a game-changing running back; we saw glimpses of this last ...

What's Happened with Akeem Foster?
Foster has seemed to be playing a very small role in the Lions' offense over the last two or three games. Is he hobbled? At the beginning of the year, I saw him as a real asset--a big, fast receiver that could stretch the field. Anyone know his condition and status?

Re: tis a small thing maybe but
K. Johnson doesn't have the quickness to be a returner. He got run down easily in his returns and on the end around. He's more of a long-striding wide receiver. Wow! If there's anything that Kierrie Johnson does have, it seems to me that it's quickness! I don't think we can generalize about this fr...

Really? I haven't heard Travis say that (although I have heard Arland Bruce say about Travis).WestCoastJoe wrote: Could Lulay make it in the NFL? Well he thinks so.

Re: TSN's CFL Broadcasts....
I know that this thread is about TSN and their CFL broadcasts, but I thought I'd just note how lousy I think Jon Gruden is on MNF. Last year, when Ron Jaworsky was in the booth too, it was even worse. I'd consider the TSN broadcasts of the CFL greatly superior to the much more costly and lavish MNF ...

Re: Personality Profiles of Football Players - Dr Arnold Man
The trouble with generalizations like those proposed by Dr. Mandell is that they are often untrue--although they do make fun reading. Once we read that players in a certain position have certain characteristics, we immediately think of some that are like that and conclude that there's some science b...

Re: TSN's CFL Broadcasts....
Is that right? I'm surprised. Could it be because the NFL games are also broadcast on American channels, and viewers have a choice of which channel to pick the game up on?JohnHenry wrote: CFL games, draws double the viewers than an average NFL game on TSN or CTV....

I'm probably alone in this because I think he is highly-rated as an announcer, but I find Chris Cuthbert's voice really grating--particularly when he gets excited!

Re: what do you think of this, re simon
I agree that Geroy's behavior was disappointing. In general, I think Geroy is far less the hot-dogger than most receivers, and I've seen him as showing a reasonable level of class most of the time. I've often thought I'd enjoy the games more if guys scoring touchdowns behaved as though they'd been t...

Re: CFL Pet Peeve No. 1
Yup, Passmore's injury was kinda freakish so statistically there really is nothing to build a case around it being an injury threat. If someone where to do a hazard assessment of the sideline I'm pretty sure there would be other more dangerous items like cameras, benches or the wall at Ivor Winn th...

Re: CFL Pet Peeve No. 1
I can accept your argument from an aesthetics stand point, but really, "ability to inure players??" Darius Passmore aside, how many players in the hundreds of game played since (or prior to for that matter) have you seen injured by a cardboard sign?? Well, for me once is enough. And it's ...

Re: CFL Pet Peeve No. 1
Meh, sandwich board signs in the CFL don't bother me all that much. Hell, hockey rink boards are pasted top-to-bottom with cheesy corporate logos. I find that way more intrusive. Well, it's not the content of the signs that's the problem, it's their ability to injure players. Advertising on hockey-...
