Burgundy? What, were aubergine, chartreuse and fuchsia already taken?
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

They do look sharp.

Maybe some years the Lions teams didn't win division championships but that has never been a year since 1954-55 when they started that they didn't have the best looking uniforms in any football league.

I can't recall one year when they made a change that I felt it deviated from their roots or thought they got it wrong.

All this despite changes from community ownership to Bill Comrie to Murray Pezim and then David Braley - they got the uniforms right if not always the football.
