27 played well. Though they were really going after him. Had most tackles at cb, is a red flag, though.

82 on offense was good. Almost got knocked out, held on.

Qb play was pathetic. Maybe a courtesy call to Dane evans is due.
Rbs were a joke.

Dolegala with his size at 6'7" should have the NFL falling all over themselves giving him a chance (several chances actually) to prove himself yet they are not. And here he is in the CFL not looking like he is ready to challenge for a starting job. He has size and a strong arm but seemingly little else. I think the Lions should move on from him.

JC Abbott does a nice job breaking down yesterday's game and how Campbell takes his "skeleton roster" to another level for the road pre-season game compared to other teams. He reminds us of the 41-10 shellacking BC received to open the pre-season in Calgary 2 years ago.

They certainly have loads of game film of all the rookies they need to evaluate in the coming days and that must be their No. 1 objective fielding that roster for game 1. I would still like to see a sprinkle of more veterans — guys like Perkins and Knevel or "projected" starting receivers Fulgham and Eberhardt — just to subtly suggest your jobs aren't completely locked up.

I came away from yesterday thinking the only thing that potentially could make this team better in 2024 is going with Meyer over Flintoff for punting/kickoffs only to free up the opportunity to dress an extra American for special team coverage and depth. If Meyer doesn't punt on Friday then we know they aren't even considering that possibility. Meyer is 32 so he is no long term project.

I take it the Lions have done little or no short yardage work in Kamloops so far as that was clearly Prokup time at the goalline.

I think they need to see if Brice can run short yardage. .. he can’t

Brice has had one rep in short yardage in training camp. Prukop took several last week, but only in one practice.

I expect BC will make at least a dozen cuts today or tomorrow at latest. They won't wait until the deadline next Saturday. Last year in getting down from 75 + non-counters to the 46 man active roster they made roughly half of the necessary cuts 2 days after the 1st preseason game. Yesterday's roster was heavily loaded with 2s and 3s battling for what amounts to one or two starting spots in the secondary, a couple of depth spots on the 46 and otherwise PR spots, 90% of the 46 man roster is already all but set. They only have today's walk-thru and 3 more sessions before breaking camp to return to Vancouver for Friday's game which will see the Week 1 starters probably taking at least half of the reps. Even though decisions will nonetheless be difficult it's in their best interests to immediately start cutting the heard so to speak. Getting down to 65 including non-counters will give everybody a bigger share of the reps and more quality reps in the final 3 practices as they prepare not just for Friday but Week 1 in Toronto.

I guess by throwing these kids into the fire, it becomes evident who the real gems are. Think Ayden Eberhardt.

But the flip side is that is, IMO, harder to evaluate receivers when QBs are running for their lives. No flow. They probably need more Oline projected starters, for part of the game at least, for this to work. Were the QBs told not to use their checkdown option? They all seemed intent on finding a receiver than hitting a RB in the flat.

Again, were Agyei-Obese and Terrell getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage because of their running ability or were the gaps immediately closing? Hard for me to say.

Checkdowns are always open. QBs in camp have rarely targeted them. They’re taught to go through their progressions in order. Prukop tried to check down several times in the game but he missed his receivers. He has been struggling with accuracy in camp. Brice has been better overall lately with the third-team offence.

Heading towards Friday's final pre-season game and the opener in Toronto, interested to know who will be lining up with the first-teamers this week in Jalen Edwards-Cooper's old spot at field corner. Davis got the start on Saturday but there are national options as well. Could Perryman slide over to the other corner after playing Peters' position on Saturday or is even Kent a possibility after a tough game in TJ Lee's spot at boundary halfback?

Tyon Davis was taking first-team reps at cornerback last week. Fellow rookie CB Jordan Perryman may move up the depth chart unless the Lions go national with Siriman Bagayogo or Adrian Greene. We'll know more this morning when camp resumes.

Interesting decision on Prukop given short yardage was the only reason Davis was on the team last year. Perhaps they now realize he was more a beneficiary of the Bombers' outstanding o-line than his ability. Of our remaining 3 QBs VA is probably the best athletic option. Maybe he just handles it the same way Rourke did in 2022.

I was never a fan of Mizzell as he is just too small to be effective running between the tackles. Prukop as a short yardage QB did not really bring anything else to the table and imo, CFL rosters are too small to have a guy who only does short yardage plays. And if they are going to have Dolegala as the backup QB he might as well be the short yardage guy as well because with his size he can just fall forward and gain a yard.

Thanks for quickly answering that question BC FAN. Mizzell's release means all three American RBs that saw game time a year ago are no longer with the club. Just scrolled through the transactions page and it seems Shaun Shivers ans J'Quan Hardy were never officially released since last fall but maybe as practice roster players they were already considered FAs and the Lions simply didn't re-sign them.
