Re: Lions cuts
Lots of changes in the secondary with Lee out, Mauger and Sayles cut, Edwards-Cooper gone. I thought they were pretty strong last year so it is surprising to see so much turnover. I have lots of confidence in Phillips to make these decisions, but it might take some time for things to settle and gel.

Re: Training camp 2024
I was hoping for more from Joseph but he didn’t seem to be distinguishing himself much at TC. I am curious how Covington has looked. After losing Betts and Menard, it would be nice to have one national stepping up on the dline. The reports on Meyer sure make it tempting to advocate for him over Flin...

Re: Lions' receivers
Also, Carter was a non-factor for the Lions on the field and deserved to get cut long before he was actually released.

Re: Lions' receivers
Those aren’t examples of refusing to coach someone. They are examples of player personnel decisions being made for various reasons, which no doubt include both performance on the field and and less tangible things like leadership, teamwork, etc.. Every team cuts players, and all coaches have input i...

Re: CFL News re: TC's 2024- Not BC Lions
I recall Jeff Tedford in 2015 bringing in I think 7 QBs to camp in the search for an heir apparent to Travis Lulay. That's how they found Jon Jennings. I remember at the time it seemed like a well thought-out plan given Lulay's injury history, and it turned out pretty well, at least for a couple of ...

Re: CFL News re: TC's 2024- Not BC Lions
Argos made an error in judgement in allowing Kelly to be around the team in these circumstances. I’m sure they will reconsider, perhaps with some persuasion from the league. Can Masoli be released when he is injured? In any case, he brings some veteran leadership and a fall back plan if Brown falter...

Re: League Thows The Book at Chad Kelly
There was always a risk that something like this would happen with Kelly, so it should come as no surprise to anyone. Perhaps he will take this as an opportunity to make personal changes for the better. If not, there is a chance that this is the end of the road for him, at least as far as the CFL is...

Re: Lions' receivers
Yeah, Claypool has NFL level talent, but from where I sit it appears he does not have pro football maturity. I don't think his ego would allow him to play in the CFL. Claypool comes across to me as being similar to Duron Carter. Long on talent but lacking the sort of maturity needed to be a pro. Wh...

Re: Touchdown Pacific in Victoria 2024
I’m glad I grabbed some seats when I did. It should be a blast. For anyone coming from out of town, I wouldn’t recommend driving to the game. The streets around there are not designed for high levels of traffic. It’s not far from downtown or bus routes though.

Re: Touchdown Pacific in Victoria 2024
There was a "CFL member" presale today. I didn't know I was a CFL member but it is lucky I am because there were very few tickets remaining. I managed to get 3 next to each other. Otherwise there were only singles left. If that is truly all that is left, there will be slim pickings when sa...

Re: Lions' receivers
This offense needs to replace Lucky in order to be effective. If you don't have a guy who can burn down the field running a nine route that defenses have to respect you're in trouble. Accordingly, when Lucky lost a step, the offense as designed was largely ineffective against teams that played zone...

Re: Thoughts on getting Stanback?
I agree with everything BC FAN said. The only caveat is that Stanback might be most effective in a platoon type situation, rather than expecting him to carry the whole load by himself all year long. In any case, the signing is a signal that the team will be more dedicated to establishing a more bala...

Re: Woody Baron & Quincy Mauger released
Not totally surprised about Baron as he was pretty well paid and our d line should be okay without him. Mauger is more surprising as he seemed to be just coming into his own and likely is good value for what he earns. Maybe there is something else going on there that we are not privy to. I thought B...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
I was surprised to learn that Stanback is younger than Mizzell. I like this signing a lot. If he can stay relatively healthy, he will be a big upgrade on the running game. He can pound the ball and pick up the hard yards, which Mizzell would never be able to do. Plus he knows the game and can do the...
