A good Wikipedia article about the soccer stadium being constructed in Toronto:

Does Vancouver now need one too to rival Toronto?

With their W-League championship win tonight, I wonder if another hurdle has been cleared for this new stadium for the Whitecaps.

With both the Whitecaps FC and Women winning their championships this season, maybe it's time to reward them with this new stadium.

According to:
http://www.whitecapsfc.com/news/?id=4771

These five issues need to be resolved by June 2007:

The five key requirements the Whitecaps are working with the City, public and stakeholders to resolve are the following:
? Provision of an adequate street network
? Resolution of the risks and liability associated with dangerous goods in the rail lands
? Reconfiguration of the stadium structure to ensure a better fit with Gastown
? Resolution of impacts on the liveability of residential areas south of the rail lands
? Resolution of impacts on future Port Lands development

The MLS commissioner has made it clear to the Whitecaps that:

No New Stadium = No MLS Team

And unlike the Sounders with their Qwest Field, Bob Lenarduzzi has made it clear that BC Place is not an option for the Whitecaps.

I had heard that Greg Kerfoot purchased a parcel of land for $ 65 million. So that deal is now off and they're negotating with the Port Authority for another tract of land?

so the original deal is off? seemingly they're back at square one

So if someone accidentally kicks the ball over the north wall, does he have to go get it back?

They may have to board a cruise ship or seabus as that's what it will likely land on.

The only real way for THAT particular plan to happen, is if he extends the skytrain line and builds his own station.
