The Mandarin Chinese pronunciation is something like "Gong Shi Fah Cai". For those of you who don't know, that term means "Congratulations and be prosperous."
Is my memory slipping?........IIRC, in Mandarin it's Xin Nian Kui Le.
Xin Nian Kui Le is Happy New Year. But Gong Shi Fah Cai is a phrase that one says during the New Year to wish others well. It's sort of analogous to saying Season's Greetings in place of Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Odd........during my time in China, all I ever heard from the locals was Xin Nian Kui Le at that time of year.......and another very similar sounding phrase for Merry Christmas.....well, at least it had the Kui Le at the end.

Both are acceptable greetings during the new year. And "Kui Le" means happiness.

Kung Hei Fat Choi to you and your family and LB posters. May the year of the ram/goat/sheep be prosperous and harmonious. Year 4743 IIRC.

My horoscope says it will be my best year in business in years but someone close will betray. I'm hoping that that event came ahead of schedule as I felt that last year in business....haha ... so I enter the year of the goat with a lot of enthusiasm and my betrayal antennae on the lookout.
