The 26-year-old quarterback is expected to take over as the starter in the nation’s capital next season after he was acquired via trade from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, signing a two-year contract extension worth up to $740,000 earlier this week.
That seems risky to sign an untested QB to a $370,000 a year deal, especially with the USFL/XFL cutting half their players.

It's for "up to" $740K over 2. Hard money in Yr 1 is $286K. He can make up to $340K if he hits on all playtime and performance bonuses. Yr 2 calls for $355K in hard money with the potential to make up to $400K if he hits all bonuses. So overall $641K hard money and another $99K in performance money. He could earn some of it or none of it.
