Ty Long kicking (he gets lots of work too!)

A hugely ineffective offence led by a QB that is shadow of what he was in 2016.
Chris Williams trade the worst in the Wally era. 3 high priced receivers and they are barely making plays or even seeing the ball.
Atrocious kick coverage once again.

I try to be optimistic but too many aspects of the team still look stuck in pre-season mode.
My optimism has pretty much waned into nothing. The best we can hope for is a sh*t-load of help from other teams.

Sad.

I have resisted thinking poorly of the HC and his staff but that ends now. There seemed to be little game prep or ability to adapt.

Overall, defence played well. TJ Lee should have picked off that pass in the end zone. Jennings looked very hesitant after throwing that 1st interception. Offensive line looked porous. Didn't really expect the Lions to win and they lived up to expectation. Very very disappointment the Lions ignored Chris Williams. He had one touch after Chris Rainey was injured and late in the game. What a total waste of talent. Why sign him to a lucrative contract when you aren't going to utilize him. Poor coaching.

This was a defensive struggle. The difference was quarterbacking, although you might not know at first glance by looking at the stats. Bo Levi Mitchell completed just 16 of 31 passes (51.6%), almost identical to his numbers in the first meeting between these teams (15 of 31) and also almost identical to Jonathon Jennings' numbers for this game (15 of 29, 51.7%). Yet looking at the two quarterbacks, Mitchell's experience and poise showed through. He got rid of the ball quickly and threw 2 TD passes against no interceptions, while Jennings threw no TD passes and 3 interceptions.

The Stampeders know, as does everyone by now, that Jennings has not been seeing the field well and is ineffective when pressured. They game-planned accordingly. Jennings was locked in on his favourite receivers all night, and held the ball too long when they were double and triple covered. He targeted Bryan Burnham 9 times and Manny Arceneaux 5 times. Chris Rainey also had 5 targets and 5 catches, 4 of them in the second half when the Lions started checking down to him. Marco Iannuzzi (2 targets, 2 catches)), Shaq Johnson (1 target, 1 catch), Nick Moore (1 target, 0 catches) and Chris Williams (no targets) were afterthoughts. On one INT intended for Arceneaux in triple coverage, Iannuzzi was open nearby on the sideline.

In a credit to B.C.'s defence, Calgary scored just 3 points off Jennings' turnovers but they added 10 points set up by Roy Finch punt returns, 3 off Rob Maver's third-down run and 7 off a brain cramp by Anthony Gaitor, but that was a rare mistake on a day when the defence did everything it could to keep the Lions in the game, only allowing 4 points otherwise.

Both defences did a good job of pressuring the QB. Calgary had 10 pressures on Jennings, and 4 sacks, while the Lions had 8 pressures and one sack. Boatright, with 3 pressures and Brooks with 2 were both prominent. B.C.'s offensive line has been much-criticized this year but I thought they played especially well, with David Foucault making his first start at right tackle. I couldn't fault the O-line for any of the Calgary sacks. That was primarily Jennings hanging on to the ball too long.

I thought Jennings showed a lot of confidence last week against Montreal, completing his first 11 passes and finding open receivers all over the field. This game proves that he still has a lot to learn, especially against top divisional opponents who know his tendencies and weaknesses.

In the post game, it was noted that the Stamps had good field position all night. 7 times they started in BC territory.

Missed the last half of this game, but it's no surprise to see Awe put someone out with a headshot. Solly plays football the right way. Awe needs to wake up. I don't like this aspect of the game.

The Oline is horrible but not as bad as the play calling. Khari Jones needs to watch a replay of the TSN broadcast and then Suitor will explain to Jones about moving the launch point for Jennings so the Stamps Dline cannot just take a B-line to where they know the QB will be.

Same old story, chapter and verse. We beat teams we should beat, lose to teams we're not expected to beat. Sorry if you've heard this one before....

We don't take chances. Paralyzed by being risk averse. To be frank, we're rather boring to watch.

Team can't seem to manufacture any breaks (TJ Lee III drops a sure INT) and a strong defensive effort is wasted. The one TD given up to the strong side of the field in busted coverage is a killer in a tight game. Sound familiar?

If not, how 'bout this? Jennings looks "deer in the headlights" by the constant onslaught, sometimes just 3 man pressure. O-line playing most of the night on rollerskates and Jennings can't find receivers as Calgary is playing tight man with no threat of a deep ball completion. So why not throw into double coverage and hope for the best?

Return after return we can't spring our punt returners. Two guys with world class speed. Catch. Fall forward. Splat. Who coaching up the special teams? Hint, it's not the African-American guy.

Shower. Rinse. Repeat.

It was never going to be an easy game. The good news is next week is a better match up.

Defence kept it close longer than it should have been. The Maver run to extend the drive was possibly the killer moment.

The Calgary challenge at the end of the first quarter was another big swing in favor of the Stamps. Hate that the call was related to a non factor on the play.

Chris Rainey played hard. Frustration setting in.

JJ10 needs to keep chugging. No time to anything but.

Edmonton losing keeps it close. 6 games left to come together.

Khari Jones need to help Jennings by calling for some quick safe passes to build his confidence instead of having him sit in the pocket behind a porous offensive line and going long.

So how does he unlearn these tendencies? Because at this moment JJ10 seems stuck in a loop that hasn't shifted, no matter what he says post-loss.

I give up on Jennings as far as this year goes. Start Ross or anybody else who has ever thrown a ball.

I hope he gets some extra sessions with "coach" Lulay.

Leos need to make Lulay OC next year if hes not playing anymore.Dickenson and 2nd year DC Claybrooks schooling BC yet again.Did Washington not learn anything from Rich Stubler? Devon Claybrooks looks fantastic in a much shorter time period although he has a solid front 4 for starters.
