Ok, this is very unsubstantiated as of the moment but there are some rumours that Ricky Ray is done for the season as a result of a punctured lung he suffered in the Labour Day classic against Hamilton.

This according to Herb Zurkowsky of the Montreal Gazette.

That is not good. The league needs its best quarterbacks. Hope Ray's injury is not too serious.

I seriously questioned the Argos going with Ray this season, instead of Trevor Harris.

The Argos missed the playoffs last year and there is a chance they will miss them this year too, if Montreal can get things turned around. The Argos have lost twice since Ray came back as their starter, although he has played decently.

Even thought the Als have only won three games so far this season, they are only one game back of the Argos.

I don't think that Montreal are much of a threat. Frankly, I am surprised they have managed to win 3 games this year. In my opinion, a season-ending injury to Ray would almost guarantee a crossover as none of Sask, Tor, or MTL are likely to win another game this year unless they are playing each other.

I was very surprised when Barker let Harris go to Ottawa and then traded Gale to Regina. I figured Barker must have another good one in Kilgore or he wouldn't let two Qbs go...oops!

You're opinion on this will likely turn out correct maxlion but I don't see it that way right now. I agree that we will probably see a cross-over, likely that team will be Edmonton but it also could end up being Winnipeg.

But I can see Montreal getting things turned around if they could get their offence working. Montreal has given up the third least points in the CFL. They are only second to Calgary's defense in preventing first downs. Only Calgary and Winnipeg have surrendered less points. Plus Montreal's defense has had to deal with being on the field a lot.

The problems with Montreal's offence are multi-faceted. Cavillo was not ready to be an OC. The type of offence he is running is not suited for Glenn. For Glenn to be successful, he needs to have a very good running game and a very good offensive line. He was effective in Calgary with that type of offence. If you ask him to do too much and put it on his shoulders, it doesn't work.

Montreal should have transitioned to Kato this season and had Glenn mentor him and Adams. Before this season is over, unless Kato plays very well, we'll see Vernon Adams. Popp gave up a first round draft choice to our Leos for him for good reasons and Popp is a good talent appraiser, who knew Adams was worth the pick. I think Montreal will win some games the rest of the way. They need a more athletic quarterback until they can get their offensive line playing better.

The Riders are also improving. Its been the biggest roster change up in Saskatchewan's history. Plus they have experienced a ton of injuries. Jones has made a lot of mistakes, including some bad game decisions to boot. But they are young and they have had an ever changing lineup. We're probably going to be playing them at the worst time...the last two games of this season.

I think the last 8 games of this CFL season are going to be very interesting.

More good news for the Bombers. Winners of 5 straight with Riders at home on Saturday and now the Ray-less Argos coming in the following week.
7 consecutive wins looking very likely before Calgary, BC (2), Edmonton and Ottawa (2) to close out the season. It's going to be a great finish in the West with huge games every week.

Ray is gone for 4-6 weeks with a broken rib (and originally a collapsed lung which has now healed). Dan LeFevour will start this weekend in the rematch against the Ticats.

Really bad news for the Argos. The 4-6 weeks could, depending on Ray's healing ability, mean the season.
