Big props to Max Domi. He assisted on Canada's first goal just 23 seconds in, added a goal of his own in the second to make it 4-1 and then shortly thereafter assisted on another (with a shot that Sam Reinhart deflected into goal) to extend the lead to 5-1 before the near-implosion. He finished 4th in tournament scoring (5g-5a-10pts), just one point behind three other Canadians.

He was also named to the 2015 WJHC all-star team and proclaimed as the tournament's top forward.

Not bad for someone with celiac disease!

Max Domi has type 1 diabetes.

That, too. The media can occasionally be a bit lazy, sometimes preferring to tell the easy, or easier, story (as we saw in this 3-1/2 minute pre-game feature tonight), which celiac is not. Everyone knows diabetes. And in fairness, it seems Max himself is more forthcoming about this other aspect of his health issues.

I missed the celiac part as the TSN interview focused on the diabetes and of course the lineage starting with Bobby Clarke to the other no. 16 Max Domi.

That is a good player and sadly not a Canuck draft pick. It seems his dad is like Paul Reinhardt as a parent - they let their kid develop and be coached by others.

Great win and lucky before they started running around a bit they had more goals in the Russian net. In Jr. hockey the tide turns a lot faster and more furious than in the pro game.

McDavid had flashes of brilliance but others shone the entire tourney - Max Domi, Petan, Morrisey, Nurse, etc as there were lots of them.

Nailbiter. With Russia it seems it is always that way. Fucale was key. He was shaky at times earlier, but solid in the third period, as our guys fell into protecting the lead.

Good for Domi. Great bunch of young players. Reinhart. McDavid. Lazar.

I thought Fucale was fighting the puck despite making several great stops. Russia's quick strike offence does that to goalies.
