Barring strike or lockout, I'll be there for the night practice on Friday, June 6 and the two sessions on Saturday, June 7. I won't be staying for FanFest this year.

Training Camp roster regulations:

As defined in the CFL By-laws, modified by the Section 14.02 of the CBA, teams are limited to 75 players under contract during the off-season. Training camp roster sizes are set at 68 players plus any non-counting players (current year's draft picks, two additional non-counter players, previous year draft picks which have never attended a professional training camp and any junior player). Non-counter players are defined as:

Players who have graduated from junior football and are within the club's territorial rights.
A current year draft eligible player who was undrafted.
A player who had been eligible for the preceding year's draft or one who may have been treated as a non-counter in the previous year's camp, provided that he has not participated in a CFL regular season or post-season game.

Starting in 2012, teams are allowed only 12 roster moves during training camp. Previously, the number of player moves was unlimited.

Roster cut-down to the standard 46-man roster is usually slated for seven days before the first regular season game each year.

An infographic of the CFL roster rules and makeup can be found on razzledazzle.cfldb.ca.
"the 1996 season was a very difficult period... I couldn't imagine telling people that I was part of the last days of the CFL... it seemed that there would be no end to the continuous stream of catastrophic problems... it was like living in a toxic fishbowl... if they had known how serious the situation was, but we couldn't make it public, for fear of a total meltdown". For the Lions I think the breakdown is going to be something like this:

68 + 7 draft picks (Player, Lochard, Chin, Menard, Fox, Roper, Bourassa) + 2 additional non-counters (likely Adekolu and Tomusiak, maybe Shott), + draft previous year (Steward) + 3 juniors (Daley, Lund, Yachison). Doege, Antwi, Thorn and Fabian will likely have to go on the 68 list, as will Schott as there is only room for two on the additional non-counter list.

Bazzie ... 6 1, 228

Lohr ... 6 4, 290

Olson ... 6 4, 240

Porcha ... 6 4, 300

Got some CFL sized rush end types there. And some earth-movers for the middle. Needs are being addressed.
.........

No sign of OL Cody Husband on the roster. Perhaps that suggested signing did not materialize.

Unusual speed for a big man--4.88/40. Looks promising!

If even only one of these four guys really pans out, it will make a big difference to the D this season. It would really be great if two of the four can play....

The BC Lions Football Club today announced the signing of import defensive backs Josh Johnson, T.J. Lee and Torri Williams.

Johnson was signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Diego Chargers in 2013. A graduate of Purdue University, he started 36 of his 49 career appearances for the Boilermakers over four seasons recording 149 tackles, 31 knockdowns and six interceptions.

Lee enjoyed an impressive showing at a recent free agent camp in Seattle and joins the Leos out of Eastern Washington where he earned three consecutive All-Big Sky selections. The Seattle native appeared in 49 career games for the Eagles notching 182 tackles four interceptions and seven forced fumbles.

Williams was a free agent signing of the Houston Texans in 2010 and made one regular season appearance before spending the remainder of the year on the club’s injured reserve list. Other pro stops for the Texas native include the UFL’s Virginia Destroyers. Also a Purdue grad, Williams tallied 41 career games for the Boilermakers notching 121 tackles and six interceptions.

All three newcomers will hit the field in Kamloops on Thursday, May 28 in advance of Training Camp which kicks off on Sunday, June 1 presented by Sun Peaks Resort.

Lee is undersized, even for a CFL corner, at 5-8.5, but Williams and Johnson look to be tackling machines with the size to compete with Tony Burnett at nickel. Williams is listed at bclions.com at 6-2 and 228 lbs., which is 20 pounds over his listed playing weight at Purdue and 18 pounds over his weight as a CB/safety in the NFL, where his career was shortened by injury. Johnson is listed as a more modest 5-10 and 200 lbs. He played cornerback at Purdue but probably has the size and skill to play several positions in the secondary.
