If you all listened carfully the KC coach was trying to tell CP that he didnt have the inteligence to be a qb in the NFL. CP is a phenominal athelete but is not smart enough to read defences. That is why Walley never started him against the Argos in the Grey Cup. He has never been able to read a 30 defence and probably still is unable to. The CFL game has changes sonce Casey has last played here. The defences nearly all take away the deep pass and force you to be patient and throw underneath. Will Casey be patient and smart enough? Time will tell! It should make for an interesting last half of the season.

If you're a high draft pick you're pretty well guaranteed a roster spot regardless of how you performed in training camp or pre season. They are given every opportunity to prove that you can't play whereas free agents or CFL players trying out for the NFL must prove they can play in their limited playing time and often with second or third stringers. It's as if the team is reluctant to admit they made a bad draft pick.

Isn't that the final straw that CP saw, he was asked to go back to the PR, yet the number three spot was going to given to some other teams QB castoff. There wasn't a teams draft pick in front of him anymore, there was a statement by the team that he wasn't going to make it as an NFL QB.

It all boils down to what I have heard everyone involved in Football say: In the NFL it's all about the politics.

CP was never really going to get a fair shot in KC. Herm Edwards doesn't even LIKE QB's. He's stated that he doesn't believe the QB is the most important role. No matter what CP did, he wasn't going to get his fair share of a kick at the can - and Herm Edwards being hired after he signed only made matters that much worse.
Now that I don't live in Quesnel do I need to change my handle??

Herein lies the lesson for any CFL players trying to make the NFL. Pick your teams very carefully irregardless of the $$$$$ involved.

Um, he did pick carefully. How was he supposed to know that Vermil would leave, and that Herm Edwards (who had a job half a country away) would end up being the new coach.

Although, you could also argue that he would have been better off picking Detroit over Kansas City (those were the final two, as I understand it).

He would be the starter for the Oakland Raiders had they signed him. :sigh:

Probably due to the fact that he came from the College system and not from the CFL. Casey did the best he could with the opportunity given to him and IMO he did do enough to earn the #3 spot. Herm Edwards will always be a joke of a head coach, he's good for a sound bite and that's about it. The Chiefs are a team on their way down anyway, Eddie Kennison isn't getting any younger, their offensive line is slowly crumbling and Larry Johnson has had more touches in the last couple of years that some players could only dream of, it's only a matter of time until he breaks down. Despite losing out on his chance in the NFL, coming back to the CFL is a better career move for Casey. Hamilton despite being the worst team in the league has some up and coming talent that gives a glimpse of them improving in the near future, something you can't really say about the Chiefs.
Furthermore, and we have heard this from numerous players, playing in the CFL is far more fun, especially for a QB like Printers, than playing in the NFL. Printers is tailor-made for the Canadian game IMO.

Not if the poop word is included, BCL.
