At this point in time, if you're happy with XP or ME
Nobody should even be running WinME, much less be happy with it.
There's a major bug in Vista, where it takes forever to copy files (Hmm, can't find the article where I read it).
Be sure to us vLite to create your own custom Vista install CD. It lets you rip out all the garbage you don't want installed . There's also nLite for XP/2000.

I resemble that remark! I have ME on my 6 yr old desktop, and with the exception of the occasional "blue screen of death", it hasn't been too bad. I think having a lot of RAM helps ME perform better.obs wrote:Nobody should even be running WinME, much less be happy with it.
We are still on XP at work, and my Dell Notebook I bought last November came with XP, of which I am in no hurry to switch over to Vista.
Stay thirsty my friends.

ME was a horrible operating system. While it might work passably for the odd user, its awfulness is probably as close as the PC world will ever come to consensus.

If anyone was considering a new system, AMD has dropped their prices, and a few of their models, in an effort to compete with Intel. Some of their models saw a 30% drop or more in price.
NCIX generally has the cheapest prices around.
